In 1994, her father, Katsuhiko Nakagawa, died of leukemia at the age of 32. She was then raised by her mother, Keiko Nakagawa, a celebrity in Japan in the 1980s.

She is most known for Sorairo Days, the theme song for Gurren Lagann but she has also performed themes for series including Akiba’s Trip, Beelzebub, Eyeshield 21, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Pocket Monsters XY and Star Blazers 2199.
