Description:

On May 7th, 2014, the Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced that Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire would launch worldwide in November 2014, exclusively for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS. The titles are the second main series Pokémon games to be released simultaneously worldwide following the release of Pokémon X and Y in 2013.

Story/Information:

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are a fresh take on Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, which launched in 2003 and were fan-favourite hits on the Game Boy Advance system. The new games take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world. Pokémon fans can collect, battle and trade Pokémon as they travel throughout the rich natural beauty of the Hoenn region.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire both begin in Littleroot Town in the the Hoenn region. Hoenn is made up of a main island that stretches widely from east to west, along with countless small islets. Live volcano steams at the heart of this green-covered island but the Hoenn region is blessed with a rich diversity of nature and a variety of Pokémon and people who live together in harmony. Players can choose to play as either a male or female character and can also travel around the region by choosing between a Mach Bike, which is geared for speed and can roll up steep slopes, or the Acro Bike, which can hop over narrow bridges and up stepping stones.

Players can also choose their first partner Pokémon: Treecko, Torchic or Mudkip. Treecko is a Grass-type Pokémon that becomes one of the fastest Grass types after it evolves into Grovyle and then Sceptile. Torchic, a Fire-type Pokémon, gains the Fighting type after growing and evolving into Combusken and then into Blaziken, which has an incredibly high Special Attack. Mudkip is a strong Water-type Pokémon that gains the Ground type and an increased Attack after evolving into Marshtomp and eventually Swampert.

While traveling around the Hoenn region, players will encounter two evil organizations. In Pokémon Omega Ruby, Maxie leads Team Magma as it seeks to seize more power and expand the landmass in the Hoenn region. Team Aqua takes a more prominent role in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, seeking to raise the oceans all around Hoenn under leader Archie’s command. Players will find themselves drawn into the conflict between the two sides but the story is different based on whether a person plays Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

Players will also befriend Steven, who in these games is interested in collecting rare stones and wishes to discover the origins of Mega Evolution and the Legendary Pokémon. The games explore Mega Evolution even further than it was in X and Y where Mega Stones were identified but there are still more Mega Stones to be discovered in the Hoenn region. Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, newly revealed transformations of the Legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre were locked in an epic battle that sent Groudon into a long slumber within the magma beneath the planet’s crust and drove Kyogre into a deep sleep at the bottom of the ocean floor. The power within Primal Reversion is revealed in the games as well as what connection lies between Primal Reversion and Mega Evolution.
