As an apprentice Gym Trainer to Kabu at Engine Stadium, she hopes to achieve that goal but hadn't passed a single battle test. She battled against Liko's Sprigatito and Roy's Fuecoco in a Double Battle with Kabu's Centiskorch. After Centiskorch defeated Fuecoco, Kabu told her that her Gym Trainer test would be to finish the battle against Sprigatito but Liko gave up the match as she didn't want to hurt Wakaba by defeating her as she seemed to be winning the battle. After apologizing to each other, Wakaba vowed to keep training.
