Ritchie's Charmander is his go to Fire-type Pokémon and despite it's size, it is a formidable opponent. It nature is quite happy as it is always smiling and glad to be with Ritchie.

Fifth Round - Vs Ash Ketchum

Zippo was Ritchie's second choice Pokémon and was up against Ash's Pikachu after it just defeated Ritchie's Butterfree. Zippo started by unleashing flamethrower attacks at Pikachu that it struggled to avoid and Pikachu was showing that it was was beginning to get tired. Zippo charged at Pikachu which connected and Pikachu was unable to continue. Charizard originally appeared like it was not going to do anything but after Zippo narrowly missed with a flamethrower, Charizard decided to fight back with a flamethrower of its own with panicked Zippo and forced Ritchie to recall it.
