Description:
Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness (ポケモンXD 闇の旋風ダーク・ルギア) was the second full RPG Gamecube title released. It was released first in Japan on August 4, 2005 and sold for 5800 Yen. Unlike the previous Pokémon Stadium games, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness featured a full storyline to complement the in-game battles. Players could also catch Pokémon similar to the handheld versions of Pokémon.
The Cipher syndicate is at it again and your mission is not merely to stop the production of these monstrous Shadow Pokémon, but to save the ones that have already been made. Orre is crawling with Pokémon Trainers ready to put your skills to the test while you journey to uncover the plot behind the reemergence of these Shadow Pokémon.
The Gale of Darkness story begins about 5 years after the events of Pokémon Colosseum. Players are introducted to Michael (リュウト), the main protagonist in this game. Michael first meets Professor Krane (クレイン博士), his mother's boss and he introduces him to the concept of Shadow Pokémon, which are Pokémon whose hearts have been artificially closed. The criminal syndicate Cipher (シャドー) is back at it again attempting to create them for their evil purposes. Professor Krane gives Michael with the Snag Machine to capture these Shadow Pokémon in an attempt to stop the evil Cipher syndicate.
Professor Krane is kidnapped by Cipher agents and our hero Michael goes out to save Professor Krane. Michael travels across many parts of the Orre region and captures many Shadow Pokemon.
The criminal organization Cipher created a Shadow Lugia, which they believed was immune to purification. Through the use of the Purification Chamber developed by Michael's father and Professor Krane, they were able to restore Lugia. As the story concludes player ends the main game by fighting the leader of Cipher, Greevil (デスゴルド Deathgold).
