Get ready to earn Championship Points and test your skills against Trainers from around the world! The 2025 Global Challenge I Online Competition is coming soon to the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games.

Event Schedule

Sign-Up Period: Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 00:00 UTC to Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 23:59 UTC
Competition Period: Friday, January 31, 2025, at 00:00 UTC to Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 23:59 UTC

Battle Teams must be registered during sign-up. No entries will be accepted once the competition period has begun.

To register for the competition, follow these steps:
1. Launch your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game.
2. Open the X menu.
3. Select Poké Portal.
4. Select Battle Stadium.
5. Select Online Competitions.
6. Under Official Competitions, select Search for a competition.

Age Divisions

Junior Division: Born in or after 2013
Senior Division: Born between 2009 and 2012
Masters Division: Born in or before 2008

Participation Prize

You must finish three or more matches with a win or a loss during the competition period to be eligible for rewards.

Competition Details

This competition follows Regulation Set G and will be comprised of Double Battles using Pokémon that appear in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet games, including those that appear in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. Only one special restricted Pokémon may be registered to your Battle Team. Certain Pokémon may not be used.

Eligible Pokémon

Paldea Pokédex No. 001-400, Kitakami Pokédex No. 001-200, and Blueberry Pokédex No. 001-242, as well as certain other Pokémon are eligible to participate.

Competition Details:

Pokémon on Team or Battle Team: From 4 to 6 Pokémon
Pokémon Chosen for Battle: 4 Pokémon
Pokémon with Limits on Registration: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Dialga (Origin Forme), Palkia, Palkia (Origin Forme), Giratina (Altered Forme), Giratina (Origin Forme), Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Kyurem (White Kyurem), Kyurem (Black Kyurem), Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Necrozma (Dusk Mane), Necrozma (Dawn Wings), Zacian, Zamazenta, Eternatus, Calyrex, Calyrex (Ice Rider), Calyrex (Shadow Rider), Koraidon, Miraidon, Terapagos
Pokémon's Levels: Pokémon of Lv. 1 to Lv. 100 may participate. All Pokémon will become Lv. 50 for the duration of each battle.
Pokémon's Held Items: You may give your Pokémon items to hold in this competition. However, no two Pokémon that will participate in the competition can hold the same item.

Competition Time Limits:
Total Time: 20 Minutes
Player Time: 7 Minutes
Turn Time: 45 seconds
Preview Time: 90 seconds

Battle Counts:
Reward Eligiblity: 3 matches.
Daily Match Limit: 15

Notes and Terms of Use

Only one user with one set of save data from either Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet may participate per Nintendo Switch™ system. If your Nintendo Account is registered to users on multiple Nintendo Switch systems—even if you play different versions of the game on the different systems—you may participate with only one system per Nintendo Account. Any Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account required for online features. Membership auto-renews after initial term at the then-current price unless canceled. Battle data and results will be provided to Nintendo Co., Ltd., and The Pokémon Company (and its subsidiaries).
Players engaging in or exhibiting the following may receive penalties and be restricted from participating in future online events.
• Use of unauthorized methods to alter game save data, use of Pokémon that have data altered via altering code, or Pokémon created through the use of altering code
• Significantly large number of disconnects during battle, from when your opponent has been decided to when the match results have been fully sent to the server (please ensure a stable connection environment when connecting to the internet)
• Troubling behavior that could affect other participants or make others feel unpleasant
• Actions that would obstruct battles and operations, such as hacking
• Registering with incorrect information or impersonating another player
• Using multiple Nintendo Accounts to participate in the same competition
• Intentionally manipulating wins and losses by using multiple devices or sets of save data (or collaborating with others to do so)
• Other actions that operation hosts determine to be inappropriate
