Lorenzo is Bianca's grandpa. For many generations Lorenzo's family has protected the secret garden on the island of Alto Mare as a sanctuary for Latias and Latios when they come to visit the island. Lorenzo is very familiar with the legends and the history of Alto Mare. He also has his own workshop where he works on fixing gondolas.

Ash Ketchum and his friends first met Lorenzo at the temple as he was giving them a tour of it. Lorenzo works at the temple as a guide on his spare time. He later came to Ash Ketchum defense as he recognized that Latias just wanted to play with Ash Ketchum.
