The Pokémon Company International announced on July 23rd, 2026, the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket: Ruler of the Skies expansion and revealed it would be released on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. PDT. Pokémon TCG Pocket: Ruler of the Skies Expansion

Harness the overwhelming power of Mega Rayquaza in this expansion. Look up, and you might catch a glimpse of a fearsome Pokémon twisting through the night sky. Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’s next expansion, Ruler of the Skies, launches on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. PDT, and marks the debut of Mega Rayquaza ex!


You can show off your new cards with some cool covers and backdrops featuring the menacing Mega Rayquaza, available starting Saturday, August 1st, 2026.

What’s New with the Release of Ruler of the Skies?

This expansion comes with a few important updates to core game features:

• You will now be able to share your decks with other players using 2D pattern codes.
• When you obtain a card included in multiple booster packs, it will be registered in the card dex for all corresponding booster packs. This change will also apply to cards you already own.
• If certain conditions are fulfilled when opening a booster pack, the next time a booster pack from the same expansion is opened, a ♦♦♦♦ or higher card will be guaranteed.

About the Large Amount of Data to Download for the Update on 29/7/2026

A data download of approximately 3.5 GB will be required on 29/7/2026. Once the download is complete, 36 pack hourglasses will be distributed as a thank-you for your cooperation.

Details
The update on 29/7/2026 will implement an upgrade to the latest version of our development environment (Unity), and is intended to improve the service we can provide going forward. As a result of this app update, a data download of approximately 3.5 GB will be required.

The data in this download will overwrite existing data already installed. Therefore, please be assured that the size of the app will not increase by the amount of data you download.

Note: Since the amount of data in the download is large, we recommend performing the update while connected to Wi-Fi.
