Five new Pokémon Utility Hole Covers, or PokéLids (
Pokéfuta ポケふた) have been unveiled and installed in the ancient city of Kyoto on March 30th, 2021. A total of 10 different Pokémon are depicted on these 5 lids including: Chicorita, Hinoarashi, Waninoko, Pichu as well as the Legendary Pokémon Houou which appear in the games Pokémon Gold and Silver.

Each PokéLids is an original design and each is unique. The PokéLids will continue to be installed for years to come. More than 150 PokéLids have been installed already in locations throughout Japan and they will serve as an opportunity for many people throughout Japan and around the world to learn about the charms of Pokémon and the city of Kyoto.
2020 marked the 90th anniversary of the start of the sewage business for Kyoto and the Kyoto City Waterworks Bureau has been conducting various PR activities so that citizens can become more familiar with and an interest in the sewage business. For the conclusion of their 90th anniversary project, they announced that they received these PokéLids as a donation from the Pokémon Co., Ltd and they were installed in five parks throughout the city.
