Berry Field Information and Location

Berry (きのみ) growing was only conducted on the Pokémon Global Link Dream World in the Generation 5 games but in Pokémon X and Y, berry growning has returned in-game. The Berry Field is located at the south exit of Route 7. Players will encounter a man and his daughter at the farm and he asks the player to take over his field as his back has been killing him and he can't garden like he used to. He gives the player a basic overview of how to grow berries and then gives them the Sprinklotad and some berries. There are 6 plots to grow berries in Pokémon X and Y with each plot being able to grow 6 trees so a total of 36 berry trees can be growing at any given time.

Growing Berries

To plant a berry, the player can go up to an empty plot in the Berry Fields and select a berry seed in their inventory to plant. Players need to then water the plot with the Sprinklotad right after planting. After planting, players will need to check up on their berry tree and check if there are issues with its growth.

Berry trees should only need to be watered once every 24 hours period but items like the Rich Mulch can reduce the amount of care required for the tree to grow. Often weeds will appear around the Berry trees which will reduce the number of berries that grow. Players will need to interact with the specific tree to do the weeding.

If a Berry tree is shaking, a Bug type Pokémon is in the tree. Players can interact with the tree to battle the Pokémon. By not dealing with the Pokémon in the tree, the berry yields can be reduced. Different Pokémon are attracted to different berries and a list of which Bug Pokémon appear in each berry tree is listed below.

Berry Stages

There are 6 main stages to berry growing. Neglecting your Berry tree will result in the plant wilting.

Mulch (こやし)

Mulch (こやし) is added to the ground to help feed the berries. To create mulch, players can add berries to 1 of the 2 composers located at the Berry Fields. Different combinations of berries can create different kinds of mulch.

Berry Mutation (突然変異)

Berry Mutation (突然変異) occur when the player has different berries growing next to each other. Using Mulch can improve the chances of Berry Mutation occurring.
