Announcing the closure of the Pokémon Global Link Service for Pokémon Black Version, Pokémon White Version, Pokémon Black Version 2, and Pokémon White Version 2.

The Pokémon Global Link service for Pokémon Black Version, Pokémon White Version, Pokémon Black Version 2, and Pokémon White Version 2 will be closing completely on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.

After the service is closed, all connection functionality with these video games will become unavailable. Please see the schedule below for more details.

The new Pokémon Global Link, which will link to the upcoming Pokémon X and Pokémon Y games, is expected to launch in October.

Players who have enjoyed the current Pokémon Global Link over the past few years will be able to carry over certain achievements and records to the new Pokémon Global Link for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, if they register for the new Pokémon Global Link using their existing user name.

In the near future, we will provide more details about this new Pokémon X and Pokémon Y version of the Pokémon Global Link, as well as our plans for the players who have enjoyed the current Pokémon Global Link until now.

The Pokémon Global Link first opened in Japan in September of 2010. We are very appreciative of everyone who has used the service over the last three years, and apologize for any inconvenience that may be caused by its closure.

Extended Maintenance for the Current PGL

The Current PGL will undergo extended maintenance during the following period: Tuesday, October 1, 2013 3:00 a.m. ET until Saturday, October 12, 2013 (TBD)

During this maintenance period, Game Sync will be unavailable for Pokémon Black Version, Pokémon White Version, Pokémon Black Version 2, and Pokémon White Version 2. Players will not be able to wake up any tucked-in Pokémon during this maintenance period. Please be sure to wake up your Pokémon before maintenance begins.

During this maintenance period, Random Matchups in Rating Mode will be unavailable for Pokémon Black Version, Pokémon White Version, Pokémon Black Version 2, and Pokémon White Version 2.

During this maintenance period, it will not be possible to connect over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection when using the Memory Link feature of Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.

Phased Closure of the Current PGL

Saturday, October 12, 2013 (TBD): New registration will be closed, and existing players will not be able to register additional games to their accounts. Existing players will not be able to select "Add Game Card" to register additional games. New member registration will no longer be possible. The demo version of the Pokémon Global Link will become unavailable.

The following content will remain available:
Pokémon Dream World - Note: The Pokémon DW will no longer be available to demo version players.
Global Battle Union (GBU) - Note: The currently ongoing Season 10 will continue until the final closure of the service. We do not plan to tally or publish the results of this season.
Global Trade Station (GTS) - Random Matchups in Rating Mode and Free Mode

Tuesday, December 10, 2013 (TBD):
Although Game Sync will still be possible, the tucking in of new Pokémon will become unavailable. The Medal called Good Night in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 will no longer be obtainable. As a result, the following Medals associated with gathering all other Medals will also no longer be obtainable: Top Medalist and Great Adventurer. Tucked in Pokémon can still be woken up.

By waking up your Pokémon, you will also be able to bring back Pokémon befriended in the PDW to your game. You can also reflect any customization changes made to your C-Gear skin, Musicals, or your Pokédex Skin. This will be your last chance to make these changes, so please be sure you are making the changes you want.
DS - You will be able to view the Pokémon select screen, but will be unable to select any Pokémon.
PDW - Please wake up your Pokémon and perform Game Sync. Caution! When you use Game Sync at this time, it will be your last opportunity to bring Pokémon back to your game. Please be aware that you will no longer be able to access the Pokémon DW after doing so.
PGL - Any C-Gear skin, Musical, and Pokédex skin customization you have selected at this time will be reflected on your game. Caution! You will no longer be able to make changes to your customizations after this point. You will be able to modify them on the PGL screen, but they will no longer be reflected in your game.

Final Closure of the Current PGL Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 2:00 a.m. ET (TBD)

An announcement will be displayed about the closure of the PGL service when the site is accessed.

You will only be able to wake up tucked in Pokémon in your Pokémon Black Version, Pokémon White Version, Pokémon Black Version 2, and Pokémon White Version 2 games. Note: When you wake up tucked-in Pokémon after the date shown above, none of the Pokémon you befriended in the Pokémon DW will be brought over to your game. Also, none of the customization changes you select will be reflected in your game. Please wake up your Pokémon on or before Monday, January 13, 2014.

Trading Pokémon over the GTS will still be available. However, your trade history will no longer be accessible on the current PGL.

Random Matchups in Rating Mode will no longer be available.

Random Matchups in Free Mode only will continue to be available to players.

You will no longer be able to bring Pokémon to the Entree Forest. As a result, the following Medals in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 will no longer be obtainable: Dozing Capture, Sleeping Capture, Deep Sleep Capture, and Sweet Dreamer.
