An advertisement that made its rounds online revealed that Genesect would be available for a limited time starting in October of 2012. Genesect was available for English players of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 from October 7th, 2012 until November 12th, 2012 via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.


Genesect was first officially revealed in the August 2012 Corocoro in Japan. Genesect was distributed in Japan on the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and Nintendo Zones for players of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 from August 11th, 2012 until September 14th, 2012.
