2023 Pokémon World Championships

The Pokémon World Championships are the pinnacle of competitive Pokémon play. Typically occurring in August of each year, the Pokémon World Championships feature the best Pokémon players from around the globe. Players will compete for over a half-million dollars in prizes, the title of Pokémon World Champion, and return invitations for the following year's Worlds.

Pokémon TCG and Video Game Championship (VGC) players qualify for Worlds by earning Championship Points at events throughout the Championship Series season. The number of Championship Points required to receive an invitation is based on both geographical rating zone and age division. The very best players will automatically advance to Day Two and some will receive an award for travel to attend the event. Top-performing Pokémon GO players at their qualifier events will earn automatic invites.

Qualification requirements for the Pokémon UNITE World Championships will be announced later.

Worlds will return to being a three-day event for 2023. Players who qualify for the first day will begin play on Friday.

The 2023 World Championships will take place in Yokohama, Japan.

2023 Pokémon TCG World Championships Qualifications

Invitations will be awarded to all Pokémon TCG players in good standing who have earned at least the following Championship Points (CP):

Day Two Invitations

Day Two invitations for the Pokémon TCG competition are divided by rating zone as follows:

• The Top 16 players from the US and Canada rating zone
• The Top 22 players from the Europe rating zone
• The Top 12 players from the Latin America rating zone
• The Top 4 players from the Oceania rating zone
• The Top 2 players from the Middle East & South Africa rating zone

Players in Japan, South Korea, and Asia-Pacific will be awarded both Friday invitations and Day Two invitations as determined by each region's organized play system.

Players in the Russia rating zone are not eligible for Day Two invitations.

Players in South Africa are not eligible for Travel Awards.

Players with invitations earned at the 2022 World Championships will play on Friday unless they qualify for Day Two based on Championship Points for the current season.

Invitations will be awarded to all Pokémon VGC players in good standing who have earned at least the following Championship Points (CP):
