On Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, Laplace Park in Sendai (ラプラス公園 in せんだい), a park themed after Laplace, the Miyagi Support Pokémon, opened in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture! Photos from the park have been added to an Imageboard thread.


To celebrate the opening, new PokéStops will be enabled for the park and a special limited-time collaboration with Pokémon GO is also kicking off where players can encounter Laplace in the park using the GO Snapshots feature.

A Laplace Pokémon Utility Hole Cover, or PokéLid (Pokéfuta ポケふた) was unveiled for the park as well.

Collaboration with Pokémon GO

To commemorate the opening of Laplace Park in Sendai in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, they will be implementing the following initiatives in collaboration with Pokémon GO.

① When you visit Laplace Park, you’ll have a slightly higher chance of encountering wild Laplace in Pokémon GO. Until Sunday, May 24th, 2026.
② If you take a photo of a Pokémon using the GO Snapshot feature inside Laplace Park, Laplace will appear in the photo once a day. Until Wednesday, May 24th, 2028.
③ Some of the playground equipment at Laplace Park will appear as PokéStops in Pokémon GO. You can obtain gifts from these PokéStops that showcase Laplace Park. Be sure to collect them to give as souvenirs to friends or pin them as postcards to preserve your memories.
④ An Official Route starting from the playground equipment at Laplace Park will be introduced.

How to use GO Snapshot

① In Pokémon GO, select your favorite Pokémon from the screen showing your Pokémon roster, tap the Camera icon in the top-right corner to switch to photo mode, and tap the footprints that appear on the screen to display your Pokémon.
② Once you’ve found an angle where the Pokémon looks great against the scenery, press the shutter button at the bottom of the screen. You only get one chance per day to capture Laplace in your photo.
③ After taking your AR photo, return to the map screen to encounter Laplace. Be sure to catch it!

*The GO Snapshot feature becomes available at Trainer Level 5.
