The KIBO Space Broadcasting Organization uses the
Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo", which is part of the International Space Station, as a studio and distributes programs. It will broadcast its first New Year's Eve live program. Astronaut
Soichi Noguchi (野口 聡一), who is currently stationed on the International Space Station and arrived their aboard the
SpaceX commercial spacecraft Dragon, will broadcast the
THE SPACE SUNRISE LIVE 2021 (さあ、新しい宇宙の日の出~THE SPACE SUNRISE LIVE 2021~) event which starts on December 31st, 2020 at 11:45 p.m.
The International Space Station (ISS) orbits at an altitude of 400 km. The KIBO space broadcasting station began broadcasting programs on August 12t, 2020. The KIBO Space Broadcasting Organization (KIBO) was established as part of JAXA Space Innovation through Partnership and Co-creation (J-SPARC), which links the International Space Station (ISS) and the ground in real time and delivers programs live through interactive communication.
Actors
Tomoya Nakamura (中村倫也) and
Masaki Suda (菅田将暉) will serve as hosts for the broadcast and JAXA astronaut Soichi Noguchi is scheduled to be the main host from ISS.
The Pokémon Company, Coca-Cola Japan and Twitter are all partners for this broadcast. As part of the broadcast, Pokémon will appear, so look forward to a collaboration with Pokémon set in space!
