Test Your Pokémon Double Battles Skill in the Same Double Beat Competition

Bring duplicate Pokémon and items into battle as you face off against other Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield players.

Get ready for double trouble in the next Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield in-game competition, which has been dubbed Same Double Beat. As the name suggests, this latest competition lets Trainers show off their skills in a series of Double Battles. You're allowed to have duplicate Pokémon on your team, and you can come equipped with duplicate items. However, Legendary Pokémon and Mythical Pokémon are prohibited from this competition. Participants will earn 50 Battle Points, so assemble your best team and prepare for a challenge!

How to Register

The sign-up period for the Same Double Beat in-game competition is from Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 10:00 p.m. PDT until Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.

To register for the competition, follow these steps:

1. Launch your Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield game.
2. Open the X menu.
3. Select VS.
4. Select Battle Stadium.
5. Select Online Competitions.
6. Select Search Official Competitions.

The competition takes place from Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. PDT until Sunday, August 15, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.

The competition will be comprised of Double Battles, and you can have duplicate Pokémon on your Battle Team. Your Pokémon can also be holding more than one of the same item.

Eligible Pokémon

Galar Pokédex No. 001–380 and 383–397, Isle of Armor Pokédex No. 001–099 and 102–210, and Crown Tundra Pokédex No. 001–196 are eligible for battle.

Each Pokémon in your Battle Team must have the Galar symbol or battle-ready symbol. Review the Eligible Pokémon section of the competition rules from within your game for details.

Results and Gifts

To view your rankings after the competition has ended, follow these steps:

1. Launch your Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield game.
2. Open the X menu.
3. Select VS.
4. Select Battle Stadium.
5. Select Online Competitions.
6. Select Search Official Competitions.

To receive your participation gift after the competition, follow these steps:

1. Launch your Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield game.
2. Open the X menu.
3. Select Mystery Gift.
4. Select Get a Mystery Gift.
5. Select Get Battle Stadium Rewards.
