Stephan's Sawk was revealed in the second round of the Don George Battle Tournament in Raimon Town.
Stephan's Sawk battled against
Iris' Emolga but Emonga's Static ability proved to be the deciding factor in the match. The Static ability ended up paralyzing
Stephan's Sawk and it was then a sitting target for
Iris' Emolga's
Volt Switch which knocked it out.
Stephan's Sawk loss eliminated
Stephan from the tournament.
Fukiyose Tower Bell of Wishes Festival
Stephan and
Stephan's Sawk paired up together and the two of them proved to be a good combination after the trivia quiz as they were almost eliminated in the first round on a simple question. During the tub race, it was revealed that
Stephan's Sawk had learned the move
Low Sweep sometime prior to the Bell of Wishes Festival as
Stephan told it to use the move to help them go faster in the the tub so they could get the final position and be able to move on to the next round. In the imitation round,
Stephan's Sawk dressed up as
Nurse Joy's Audino to complement
Stephan who dressed up as
Nurse Joy (Unova).
Miles commented that they looked a bit little creepy, but he was generous and narrowly passed them.
Donamite Tournament
Stephan's Sawk faced
Edmund's Seismitoad in the first round of the Donamite Tournament. Initially the battle went well for
Edmund's Seismitoad as its speed made it hard for
Stephan's Sawk to hit it. The two Pokémon began having a rally of heavy blows, trying to stop one another but it wasn't until
Stephan's Sawk successfully hit it with a
Low Sweep and injured it a bit, that
Edmund's Seismitoad's speed decreased.
Edmund noted that with its speed, it should be able to dodge attacks but the injury proved to be the turning point in the match and
Stephan's Sawk was able to
Bulk Up and then finished it with a
Close Combat. With the loss,
Edmund was eliminated from the Don George Donamite Tournament by
Stephan in the first round and
Stephan advanced to the second round.
In the final round,
Montgomery's Throh was finally matched up against
Stephan's Sawk. The two had been taunting each other throughout the tournament and the fight lived up to the anticipation.
Montgomery's Throh revealed its fourth move
Bind for the first time in the final round as it tried to hold up
Stephan's Sawk.
Stephan's Sawk countered it though with a
Bulk Up and
Close Combat. The two trades blows until
Stephan's Sawk was able to land a very powerful
Close Combat that
Montgomery's Throh was unable to block. Realizing that it had won the match,
Stephan's Sawk bowed and walked away as
Montgomery's Throh tried to continue but was knocked out. The victory eliminated
Montgomery from the tournament and
Stephan was declared the victor.
Isshu League Tournament
Stephan's Sawk participated in the Isshu League Higaki Tournament. In the second round,
Stephan faced a Trainer that had a Gurdurr and the battle was briefly shown and
Stephan's Sawk defeated it to allow
Stephan to move on to the third round.
It was matched up against
Ash's Leavanny in the third match up of the third round battle.
Iris noted that
Ash Ketchum had decided to fight power with speed as
Stephan's Sawk had a hard time landing hits against
Ash's Leavanny. It wasn't until
Stephan's Sawk was able to block one of
Ash's Leavanny's
X-Scissor attacks that it was actually able to start hitting. After taking some significant damage,
Ash's Leavanny's ability Swarm was activated and thee power of its Bug type moves increased.
Ash's Leavanny's
String Shot gained a lot more strength and
Stephan's Sawk was unable to break through with
Bulk Up until after multiple
X-Scissor attacks had weakened the string enough.
Stephan's Sawk then with one large leap into the air, finished off
Ash's Leavanny with a powerful
Karate Chop.
The final match up of the third round ended up being
Stephan's Sawk vs
Ash's Krookodile, both of which were very injured from the previous battles. Both of them did their best to muster up their reserve strength but in the end a surprise move of
Aerial Ace by
Ash's Krookodile was super effective against
Stephan's Sawk and it knocked it out to give
Ash Ketchum the victory while eliminating
Stephan from the tournament.
Stephan realized after the battle that the reason that
Ash Ketchum withdrew Waruvial after the first battle was because
Ash Ketchum knew that
Stephan would definitely send out Dageki, so he didn't reveal that it knew
Aerial Ace and saved until the end.
