Earlier this week Nintendo gave IGN another opportunity to interview Game Freak director Junichi Masuda and game designer Takeshi Kawachimaru again.
They got to ask them a few more questions about Platinum, and quite a few more questions about their personal experience with the Pokemon games.

The minds behind Pokémon discuss Platinum and the future of the franchise

The Pokémon series has been enthralling handheld gamers young and old since its debut in Japan on the original Game Boy in 1996 (it first launched in the U.S. in 1998.) With the release of the latest game, Pokémon Platinum, What They Play got a rare chance to talk to two of the franchise's key creators: game director Junichi Masuda and designer Takechi Kawachimaru.

The official Japanese website announced that the 5th ANA short would be released on DVD in Japan sometime in August. The DVD will also be given out as a prize for some of the Movie 12 Card Contests winners.

Pikachu's Great Ice Adventure iis the 5th ANA short. Pikachu and friends arrive near the sea and end up getting into a fight with Nyarth. Suddenly a sweeping and terrible snowstorm encompass the Pokemon. Pikachu gets separated from the other Pokemon because of the snowstorm.

Visit a participating Toys R Us in the United States or Puerto Rico from March 8th through March 21st to receive the Colossal Pokemon Regigigas in your copy of Pokemon Diamond Version or Pokemon Pearl Version.

Regigigas Information
Level: 100
Poke Ball: Cherish Ball
Held Item: Custap Berry
Moves: Iron Head, Rock Slide, Icy Wind, Crush Grip

If you receive this Regigigias and then transfer it to your copy of Pokemon Platinum Version, something amazing happens! If you have Regigigas in your party at certain times, you may be able to find Regirock, Regice and Registeel in Sinnoh. Once you encounter them, you'll be able to catch these Legendary Pokemon.

This trio of Legendary Pokemon cannot be found in Pokemon Platinum Version during normal play and a Regigigas caught through normal play in Pokemon Platinum Version will not cause these Pokemon to appear.

The official Nintendo of Korea website and the official Korean Pokemon website have announced that Mew will be distributed on March 21st to March 22nd 2009 from 10 AM to 5 PM.

In anticipation of Pokemon Platinum, Nintendo gave IGN a rare opportunity to interview Game Freak director Junichi Masuda and game designer Takeshi Kawachimaru.

Mr. Masuda has been with Pokemon since Day One on the original Game Boy providing much of the audio. He directed the original DS games Diamond and Pearl, and composed much of the music in the design. Mr. Kawachimaru has been designing Pokemon since Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, and in Pokemon Platinum he served as the game's director.

The Pokemon Platinum Version video game is coming to Nintendo DS on March 22nd and this spring Pokemon Trainers around the globe will battle for a chance to win it all at the 2009 Pokemon Video Game World Championships!@

For Pokemon Trainers, it could not possibly get more exciting than this. Pokemon Video Game Regional Tournaments will be held this spring throughout the United States and Europe and the competition is guaranteed to be intense. Trainers tough enough to quality will earn an invitation and travel award to participate in the Pokemon Video Game National Championships held in St. Louis, Missouri on June 27th and 28th.

Pokemon Trainers who have the skill to quality at the National level will earn an invitation and travel award to the ultimate stage -- t the Pokemon Video Game World Championships! This prestigious event will take place in San Diego, California on August 14th and 15th.

Detailed rules will be announced in the coming weeks, but for now we can reveal the Pokemon Trainers will compete using the 2-on-2 Double Cup format, with no Pokemon allowed to exceed level 50. Stay tuned for more information about which Pokemon will be restricted.

The competition will take place exclusively using Pokemon Platinum Version, so be sure to pick up the game when it is released on March 22nd. With new adventures, never-before-seen Formes of powerful Pokemon and expanded online options, Pokemon Platinum Version has plenty of new surprises for Pokemon fans.

The Pokemon Video Game World Championships will showcase the world's best Pokemon Trainers and their prized Pokemon. When the competition begins, will you be prepared for battle? To participate in the Pokemon Video Game Championships, you'll need to bring your own copy of Pokemon Platinum Version.
