Mamie is a Pokémon Trainer on her way to battle Crasher Wake at the Pastoria City Gym. Her Glameow finds Team Rocket's Meowth unconscious behind a rock and she helps it get better. Meowth wakes up and instantly falls in love with Mamie's Glameow. Jessie and James appear and thank Mamie for helping Meowth and they drag him away from Mamie's Glameow.

Mamie continues journeying towards Pastoria City and encounters Ash and his friends. Meowth decides that he wants Team Rocket to capture Glameow to give it to the boss. They manage to take Glameow's Poke ball but Ash and his friends manage to track Meowth down.

During a battle with Meowth, Team Rocket, Ash and Dawn, Mamie's Glameow evolves into Purugly. Meowth loses interest and allows Mamie and her Purugly to continue on their journey together.
