5 new Pokémon Utility Hole Covers, or PokéLid (Pokéfuta ポケふた) were unveiled for Shimane Prefecture on September 30th, 2024. The new manholes feature Dedenne and Wakkanezumi, as well as other Pokémon and they will be installed in five cities and towns in the prefecture! Artist Lee HyunJung confirmed that they did the artwork for all 5 lids.

Each PokéLids is an original design and each is unique with the aim of promoting the appeal of Pokémon and each region they are installed in throughout Japan.

The PokéLids that are installed will gradually become PokéStops for the location-based game Pokémon GO for smartphones.
