As part of the Tokyo Game Show (東京ゲームショウ), an award show is held to recognize the people that work on Japanese games. On Thursday September 15th, 2011 at 4 o’clock, the "Japanese Game Awards” were held at Makuhari Messe in Japan. Junichi Masuda posted on the GameFreak Director's Column that they had won four awards. Below are the awards that they won.

  1. Ministry of Economic Industry Award - The Pokémon Company’s “Mr. Tsunekazu Ishihara” (経済産業大臣賞 「(株)ポケモン 石原恒和さん」)
  2. Global Award Japanese game section - “Pocket monsters Heart Gold / Soul Silver” (グローバル賞 日本作品部門 「ポケットモンスター ハートゴールド・ソウルシルバー」)
  3. Best Sales Award (ベストセールス賞)
  4. Award for Excellence - “Pocket Monsters Black / White” (優秀賞 「ポケットモンスターブラック・ホワイト」)

I wonder what the 'Ministry of Economy Award' and 'Global Award' stands for... Anyway, it's great to see GameFreak getting those awards, I'm sure they do deserve them. Though, it's quite curious they got an award for a game that was released about two years ago (Pokémon Gold/Silver remakes).
