The Guest Voice Actors for "Pokémon the movie XY&Z: Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna" have been Revealed

Big news about the anxiously awaited "Pokémon the movie XY&Z: Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna", which premieres this summer! The movie's guest voice actors have been revealed!

The mythical Pokémon Volcanion is played by the truly versatile Somegoro Ichikawa, whose career as a kabuki actor has landed him roles in both plays, TV serials and movies. This is his first time as a voice actor in an animated movie!
He plays an important Pokémon that hides a dark side: It hates humans!

A Comment from Somegoro Ichikawa
When I got offered the role of Volcanion in this movie, those close to me were extremely shocked and told me things like "No way!" and "I can't picture you of all people doing this!"
This is my first time ever voice acting in a cartoon, and while I'm looking forward to it, I'm also anxious... This franchise has such a long history to it, so in order to not disappoint all the Pokémon fans out there, I'm going to try my absolute hardest to mega evolve and change up my voice so well no one will be able to even tell that it's me anymore.

Next, Chymia, princess of Azoth Kingdom, will be played by actress Mayu Matsuoka, who's always in high demand for TV serials and talk shows. Just like Ichikawa, this is her first time as a voice actor in an animated movie!
The role of Chymia is that of a princess who's always full of energy and who hates sitting still!

A Comment from Mayu Matsuoka
I've always been a huge fan of both the Pokémon anime and the Pokémon games, and have fond memories from my childhood of going to watch the movies with my family! I am extremely honored I get to voice act in Pokémon, something I've watched so much of over the years. I'm also really genuinely happy I get the chance to co-star with veteran actor Koichi "Yama-chan" Yamadera, who I have immense respect for. Since this is my first time voice acting to animation, I am nervous about how well I'll be able to do, but thanks to the continued guidance of dear Yama-chan and the wonderful people on the production staff, I will try to make sure this year's movie will manage to convey the emotion and excitement Pokémon is so known for as well. This is a dream come true!

Then, Azoth Kingdom's prince Racel, the younger brother of Matsuoka's Chymia, will be played by Shoko Nakagawa, the movie's PokéWoman representative, finally playing in her 10th movie in a row! In this 10 year milestone the extremely excited Nakagawa gets to play a boy!

A Comment from Shoko Nakagawa
I can't believe I've been able to go on an adventure with Pokémon for an entire 10 years now. It's like a dream! Racel, the character I play this year, is a pure and sensitive young boy. It'll be a difficult role, so difficult I get the feeling I'm going to have to update what I've considered my greatest challenge of the roles they've had me play so far. I'm positive this is a role I get to play precisely because I've now gained 10 years of EXP, so I want to fill that EXP with 10 years' worth of gratitude as I Tackle it. I want to play this role of a boy at his most insecure and hesistant part of life perfectly in order to bring the hopes and dreams of Pokémon to the children out there!

And there's one more person you just can't have a Pokémon movie without! Koichi Yamadera, who became the center of attention when he announced his retirement as host of TV Tokyo's childrens' variety show "Oha Suta" for 19 years, will also be appearing for the 19th year in a row! He plays Jarvis, the cabinet minister of Azoth Kingdom that acts as Satoshi and the other's antagonist.

A Comment from Koichi Yamadera
Even though I've retired from "Oha Suta", I still haven't retired from the Pokémon movies! (laughs)
I'm very happy to be appearing in the 19th installment of the series in a row this year. I play really different roles every year, so even though this is my 19th time in a row, I'm approaching this as an entirely new experience and will be doing my hardest with the true spirit of challenge! I've heard that Jarvis is a key character to the story, so I'm looking forward to playing him.

We have a huge lineup of truly splendid guest voice actors from a wide variety of fields this year too! You can see all of these personality-rich characters in advance in the trailer that will be playing in theaters all over Japan starting Saturday April 16th, so make sure to stay tuned for that!
