Pokémon fusion is the ability to combine certain Pokémon into a single, more powerful form with an altered appearance. So far, this phenomenon has only been observed and documented with Necrozma, and it seems that the newly discovered Solar Fusion Energy and Lunar Fusion Energy are key to taking advantage of fusion.

Pokémon Debut

Necrozma*, the Prism Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut in raids during Pokémon GO Fest 2024. Also starting during GO Fest 2024, you can fuse Necrozma with Solgaleo or Lunala to get Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma! Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma cannot be traded, transferred to the Professor, or transferred to Pokémon HOME.

Pokémon Fusion

With enough Fusion Energy, Necrozma can be fused with either Solgaleo to become Dusk Mane Necrozma or Lunala to become Dawn Wings Necrozma.

• Trainers can fuse Necrozma and Solgaleo using 1,000 Solar Fusion Energy, 30 Necrozma Candy, and 30 Cosmog Candy.
• Trainers can fuse Necrozma and Lunala using 1,000 Lunar Fusion Energy, 30 Necrozma Candy, and 30 Cosmog Candy.

Fused Necrozma will remain in this form until their Trainer separates them. Separating will not cost any Fusion Energy or Pokémon Candy.

Solar Fusion Energy and Lunar Fusion Energy

Solar Fusion Energy and Lunar Fusion Energy are very rare sources of power that can fuse Necrozma into more formidable forms. Trainers can obtain early access to either Solar Fusion Energy or Lunar Fusion Energy via branching Special Research at the in-person Pokémon GO Fest events in Sendai, Madrid, and New York City.

Starting with Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Global, Trainers will be able to earn Solar Fusion Energy or Lunar Fusion Energy by defeating Dusk Mane Necrozma or Dawn Wings Necrozma in Raid Battles or by completing ticketed research tasks.

Pokémon GO Fest 2024

Encounter Necrozma in five-star raids starting with the in-person Pokémon GO Fest 2024 events, and take on Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma in five-star raids during the global event.

Trainers without an active ticket for Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Sendai, Madrid, or New York City can participate in Necrozma raids, but they won’t be able to encounter a Shiny one until Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Global.

After fusing Necrozma with Solgaleo or Lunala, Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma will have the location card associated with the fused Necrozma.

During a keynote speech at CCXP in Mexico City on May 5, key personnel from Niantic and The Pokémon Company International announced the launch of support for Latin American Spanish as well as other updates relevant to the region, including a month-long in-game celebration across Latin America to commemorate the occasion. The Special Research story Glitz and Glam will be available to all Trainers for free starting May 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time! Trainers who complete the Special Research will earn an encounter with the Mythical Pokémon Diancie.* This Special Research will not expire, so you’ll be able to complete it at your own pace!
