Peony is a character first introduced in the "The Crown Tundra" expansion DLC for "Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield". Being the younger brother of Rose and coming from a family that worked in a mine, he always felt overshadowed by his more skilled, popular older brother. After losing his father (in some canons, such as the Anipoke), he would use this jealousy to get much stronger during his early trainer-years, eventually becoming a Steel-type Gym Leader, and moving further up the chain to eventually become Champion. Due to shady events after his brother became the Chairman of the League, he "stepped down". Since settling down, he had two daughters, Peonia and Penny, raising them as a single father, and likes to try to do things to impress them both, like an "Adven-tour", much to their annoyance. When Peonia refuses to join him on the tour, he instead enlists the player, Victor or Gloria, to be his partner instead. He spends most of the story as Calyrex's speaking-body, as he cannot speak on his own.
