Summary:
XY&Z is the first opening for the Japanese version of Pocket Monsters XY&Z. The song features the singing of Satoshi (CV - Rica Matsumoto). The song was written by Tomohisa Sako, who was the singer of
Getta Banban, the opening previous to XY&Z.
The opening starts with Satoshi tapping his feet and adjusting his jacket's zipper as his current team of Pokémon is showcased. The normal intro text is shown on the bottom of the screen - The mysterious creatures of this planet Pocket Monsters... "Pokémon" for short! (この星の不思議な生き物 ポケットモンスター・・・ ちぢめてポケモン!) Now the story of the encounters, adventures and battles of Satoshi and the Pokémon begins! (今、サトシとポケモンたちの出会いと冒険と戦いの物語がはじまる!)
The main protagonists are also quickly each shown and the Pocket Monsters XY&Z logo appears.
Squishy is then seen with Eureka running after it and grabbing it in her arms. Miare City is then revealed with Satoshi and his friends at the edge of a cliff looking down at the city. The main protagonists with their Pokémon are also quickly shown before transitioning to the Rocket Gang balloon which features Musashi getting dressed up as Nurse Joy. A blue stylized sequence then features all three main members of Rocket Gang dressed up as Nurse Joy and then being hit by a Thunderbolt by Pikachu.
Satoshi and his Greninja are featured in a sequence that has a changing background with videos of Alan and Shota battling with their Pokémon. Greninja then turns away from Satoshi who looks up and chases after it only for Greninja to liquefy and disappear causing Satoshi to drop his hat and begin to cry. A tear drop falls to the ground and turns into a waterspout. Satoshi Greninja is then seen battling Shota's Mega Sceptile in a fierce battle in an open field.
Squishy is then seen being chased until it jumps into Eureka's arms. The members of Flare Gang are then shown on a fiery rock mount. The camera pans out to show Zygarde and then Alan and his Lizardon.
Squishy is then running in a forest and it transforms into all its different formes until its Perfect Forme when a blast of energy leaves the planet and into space.
Urup is seen in a forest with snow and a bunch of Pokémon. A Monster ball then rolls around until Satoshi catches it and the opening ends with a picture of the main protagonists spliced into 4 separate sections.
