The Pokémon Asia Players Cup 2021 is the very first online tournament for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield over multi-regions in Asia taking place from August 28th, 2021 to September 11th, 2021.

Players from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand will have the opportunity to prove their mettle as Pokémon Trainers. Battle against other Trainers around Asia to win the ticket to the Pokémon Global Exhibition in October and the Travel award to the 2022 Pokémon World Championships!

Qualifiers to decide the top players from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand will be held on August 28th, August 29th and September, 4th and 5th, 2021.

The Grand Finale is happening on September 11th, 2021 where the top 8 players from each region will battle to be crowned the best Pokémon trainer in Asia.

All the 8 players competing in the Grand Finale will be awarded with the invitation to Day 1 of the 2022 Pokémon World Championships, a physical copy of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl Double Pack​* and a physical copy of Pokémon Legends: Arceus*. The champion of the Grand Finale will receive an invitation to the Pokémon Global Exhibition, and Invitation to Day 2 of the 2022 Pokémon World Championships with flights and accommodation fee.

Game Rules

  • The game format will be a Double Battle format.
  • Players must have between four and six Pokémon.
  • Pokémon above and below Lv. 50 are permitted but will be auto-leveled to Lv. 50 during battle.
  • Players are not allowed to use duplicate Pokémon.
  • Players are not allowed to have duplicate held items.
  • The game time limit: 20 minutes
  • Team Preview: 90 seconds
  • Move time limit: 45 seconds
  • Player time (Your Time) limit: 7 minutes
  • Players may use Pokémon with the following Pokédex numbers, provided the Pokémon obtained in Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield were received at an official event or distribution.
    • Galar Pokédex numbers: #001–397
    • Isle of Armor Pokédex numbers: #001–210
    • Crown Tundra Pokédex numbers: #001–209
    • National Pokédex numbers: #243–245, #252–260, #380–381, #480–482, #485, #488, #638–642, #645, #722–730, #785–788, #793–799, #803–806
  • Players may use Rental Teams during Weekend 1 and Weekend 2 Qualifiers. If using a Rental Team, the player is responsible to ensure the team is legal for tournament and the player should fill out the Team List with the Rental Team Pokémon as those Pokémon appear in battle (i.e at Lv.50). Rental Teams are not allowed for use in the Grand Finale.
  • Players are required to use the same team throughout Weekend 1 and Weekend 2 Qualifier. Opponents will have an opportunity to view each other's team lists (excluding stats) before playing. If you detect that your opponent is using something that differs from their list, you should immediately call a tournament admin for assistance.
