Starting today, Saturday, March 8th, 2025, the Pokémon Fossil Museum exhibit is opening at the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum in Fukui Prefecture, Japan! It will be open until Sunday, May 25th, 2025! Come learn more about fossils together with Excavation Pikachu!

Fossil Pokémon appear at the Pokémon Fossil Museum!?

A collaboration with Pokémon GO and the Pokémon Fossil Museum has finally come to fruition! Fossil Pokémon will appear at the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum from March 8th, 2025 until May 25th, 2025! Pokémon are mysterious creatures that appear in the popular Pokémon game series, and there are several Pokémon that have been restored from fossils, called Fossil Pokémon.


The Pokémon Fossil Museum is an exhibition where you can compare Fossil Pokémon with fossils found in our real world, discover similarities and differences, and have fun learning about paleontology. If you play Pokémon GO around the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum during the Pokémon Fossil Museum period from Saturday, March 8th, 2025 to Sunday, May 25th, 2025, Fossil Pokémon will appear in the wild!

After enjoying the exhibits at the Pokémon Fossil Museum, play Pokémon GO and catch some Fossil Pokémon! Also, if you take a photo using Pokémon GO's Snapshot feature, Tyrunt and Amaura may appear! Here are the times when each Fossil Pokémon will appear in the photo:

7:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Tyrunt
1:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Amaura


During the event, three Pokémon Fossil Museum PokéStops will appear around the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum. Spin PokéStops to get items from the Pokémon Fossil Museum including a chance to get special stickers that you can then send to your friends!
