A Report from the Next Generation World Hobby Fair '16 Winter Tokyo Fair!

The Next Generation World Hobby Fair '16 Winter is this winter's big event!!
It's being held in four venues all across Japan: Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka!

Here is a status report from the Tokyo Fair, which was held Saturday January 23rd and Sunday January 24th!
It's definitely worth a look if you're still wondering if you should go or not!

After entering the venue, our goal was the Pokémon Booth!
Thus, we went for the booth marked with the Pikachu balloon!



The one thing you definitely want to make sure you get at the fair is the "Pokémon Movie Newspaper" that's being handed out around the booth in the form of a newspaper extra!
It contains a close look at the secrets of the mythical Pokémon Volcanion!
It's perfect for reading while you're waiting for stage shows or attractions!



Multiple shows were held at the stage in the booth itself!
Satoshi's voice actress, Rica Matsumoto, and the performer of the Pocket Monsters XY opening theme "Getta Banban", Tomohisa Sako, were both present!



During the "Pokémon Tretta & Pikachu Talk" stage show, Tomohisa Sako played on a "Pokémon Tretta Ultimate Z Set 2" game system!
Sako calls himself a Pokémon Sommelier, and his skill at the game was absolutely outstanding!
The way he and Rica Matsumoto play off each other perfectly is also a must see!



During the anime stage show, they also held a fun quiz competition!



And of course, they did a special concert as well!
Rica Matsumoto sang "XY&Z", the opening theme to the anime series "Pocket Monsters XY&Z", while Tomohisa Sako sang "Getta Banban"!
In addition, the two of them sang a special duet version of "Mezase! Pokémon Master"!



The Pokémon Booth also had a "Squishy Quiz Rally" you had to wander around the booth to solve, as well as a...



...hands-on attraction titled "Heatbursting Volcanion: Blast Everything Away with Steam!", and lots of other fun things!



There was also a corner where you could try out Pokkén for free!

Make sure to visit the Next Generation World Hobby Fair venue closest to you one of the coming weekends!

Tomohisa Sako's "Getta Banban" and Rica Matsumoto's "XY&Z" made the entire venue explode with a Heatburst of excitement! What a climax!

Story

A Pokémon came falling from the sky!

As Satoshi continued his journey aiming to become a Pokémon Master, a lump covered in white smoke suddenly dropped out of the sky and landed in front of him and his friends.
As white smoke spread around as far as the eye could see, a shape appeared from within it;
The mythical Pokémon Volcanion.

Ignoring the worried Satoshi and his friends, Volcanion, who hates humans, immediately tries to leave the place.
However, the impact of the fall caused Satoshi and Volcanion to be linked together by a strange device, leaving them unable to separate...!

Volcanion runs off and Satoshi gets dragged along by it, eventually reaching the Azoth Kingdom, a city of super-machinery where gigantic cogwheels are all over the place and rotating.
Why did Volcanion fall from the sky?
And why did it head to the Azoth Kingdom!?
With the mechanical kingdom of machinery as its setting, the hottest legend in Pokémon history begins!



What is the power hidden in Volcanion's arms!?

Volcanion violently expels boiling steam!
Its arms can move freely and are split in two; the steam launched from them packs a punch! With this steam it is said to be able to blow away mountains and use the thick fog to hide itself. Because it possesses both the Fire and Water type, unlike other Pokémon before it, the water inlets of its arms can launch both Fire type moves and Water type moves. Also, the blue color of the windows on its arms seems to be related to the remaining water in its body.
For Volcanion, who uses fire and water to create steam explosions within its body and launch moves, water seems to be the source of its energy.

	Attraction 4: On Sunday January 24th, the residents of Pokénchi will gather on the World Hobby Fair stage! The residents from the popular show "Pokémon no Uchi Atsumaru?", which is currently airing, are coming to the World Hobby Fair stage! They will hold a fun stage show together with the Pokénds (Pokémon friends) that came to the fair! An extravagant guest will be there as well!?

Pokémon Celebrates 20 Years with Ad in Super Bowl 50

Celebration of iconic brand will continue throughout 2016 with special products and events BELLEVUE, Wash.—January 12, 2016— Pokémon is thrilled to announce that 2016 will be a year-long celebration of the past, present, and future of the 20 year-old brand. The New Nintendo 3DS Pokémon 20th Anniversary bundle will come with Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version pre-installed, two unique cover plates featuring artwork from the original Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version game boxes and the Pokémon 20th logo, and a download code for an exclusive Nintendo 3DS Pokémon HOME Menu theme. POKÉMON TCG

Pokémon TCG fans can celebrate 20 years of Pokémon with the Pokémon TCG: Generations expansion Pokemon.com/20. This special expansion covers every stage of a Trainer’s journey, from the choice of a first partner Pokémon to the most elite of Trainer battles. Featuring Pikachu, Snorlax, Ninetales-EX, and Jolteon-EX, plus Mega Charizard-EX, Mega Blastoise-EX, and Mega Venusaur-EX, the Generations expansion will be available in February. Generations booster packs will be available within specially labeled and designed Pokémon TCG products released as part of the Pokémon 20th celebration, starting with the first Pokémon TCG: Mythical Pokémon Collection coming in late February. A total of 11 Mythical Pokémon Collections will be released throughout 2016, each containing two Generations booster packs. In addition, four Pokémon TCG: Red & Blue Collections focused on the original superstars of the Pokémon world, each containing four Generations booster packs, will be released in 2016.

RETAIL

The celebration continues with special retail events. Four Mythical Pokémon video game character distribution events will take place at participating GameStop locations throughout 2016, with one being distributed each quarter. Fans will need to have Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, or Pokémon Y, and a system from the Nintendo 3DS family to receive Mew, Darkrai, Arceus, and Genesect.

On Pokémon Day, February 27, at participating Toys“R”Us locations, fans can receive special foil Pokémon TCG cards featuring Pikachu and Magikarp from the Generations expansion, a Pokémon activity book, and a poster of the original 151 Pokémon, while supplies last. Toys“R”Us will also have an exclusive Generations-themed folio available for purchase to collect the new expansion.

ANIMATION

Beginning in January and continuing throughout the year, 12 full-length Pokémon feature films will be available for digital download from iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon. The first two releases will be Pokémon: The First Movie and Pokémon the Movie 2000, both digitally remastered. In addition, Pokémon TV, available on Pokemon.com, Roku, Chromecast, and Amazon Fire platforms, will feature one film title per month to align with other Pokémon brand activities. VIDEO GAME

On the same day, three new Nintendo 2DS Special Edition bundles, sure to trigger warm feelings of nostalgia, will also launch. The Special Edition bundles include a Nintendo 2DS system in transparent red, blue or yellow and are pre-installed with Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue or Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition, corresponding to the system’s colour. These Nintendo 2DS Special Edition bundles feature classic packaging reminiscent of the original Game Boy games, a sheet of 15 stickers that can be used to customise the system and a download code for a HOME Menu theme.

Pokémon TCG: Generations boosters will be available within the specially labelled and designed range for this special year, starting with the first Mythical Collection released in late February in the UK and Germany and slightly later in other European countries. New Mythical Pokémon Collections will be released throughout 2016, each containing additional Pokémon TCG: Generations boosters, and four Red & Blue Collection boxes will be released containing even more boosters.

TV ANIMATION

2016 will be a landmark year for Pokémon in many ways. Not only will the Pokémon Company International celebrate a rich 20 years of history, it will also evolve by developing plans for a bright future!

New video game titles are slated for release during early 2016—Pokkén Tournament arrives in spring 2016 for Wii U, Pokémon Rumble World releases on January 22 and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon releases on February 19 for the Nintendo 3DS family systems. 2016 will also see Pokémon fans catching ’em all in the real world with the release of Pokémon GO, a game for mobile devices which was announced in September 2015. The project is a collaboration between the Pokémon Company, Niantic, Inc., and Nintendo Co., Ltd. It is a groundbreaking mobile game designed to encourage fans to search far and wide in the real world to discover Pokémon. Pokémon GO will be available for download at no charge on the App Store and Google Play in 2016.

Pikachu Appears During the Special "Anime Kouhaku" Segment During the 66th NHK Kouhaku Utagassen



The Pokémon from the anime series "Pocket Monsters", spearheaded by Pikachu, will appear during the special "Anime Kouhaku" segment taking place during the 66th NHK Kouhaku Utagassen!
These popular, Japanese-born anime characters will gather on the Kouhaku stage for a special, one-night-only show!
The Pikachu will be there to cheer on the anime song contest between the singers participating in Kouhaku! Let's hype up the anime song contest!

This will be the first time "Anime Kouhaku" is held during the Kouhaku Utagassen. Wait and see what kind of wonderful stage show it will be!

On February 9th, 2016, Warner Home Video in conjunction with VIZ Media will release the Pokémon: The Movies 1-3 Limited Edition Bluray Collection in the United Stats and Canada. The Bluray set features the English dubbed version of the first three movies for the MSRP of $39.99 USD. The set appears to have no extras or no additional audio tracks other than English Stereo 2.0 Audio. This set was recently released in Australia. Details of this set have been added to our DVD/Bluray Database.
