The official Pokémon website has announced that the Play! Pokémon Live Competitions and Events will remain suspended throughout the rest of 2020. Our list of canceled Pokémon COVID-19 events has been updated.

Play! Pokémon Live Competitions and Events Remain Suspended Through 2020

Look for more ways to play at home now, and the resumption of Play! Pokémon activities starting in 2021.

Since the initial announcement in March that all Play! Pokémon Program events would be cancelled, we've been closely monitoring the global health pandemic. In keeping with a commitment to ensure the safety of fans, players, and organizers, the Organized Play team is continuing to assess the situation. As of September 2020, we have determined that the Play! Pokémon Program will remain suspended through the remainder of 2020.

Please check back in November 2020 for more details and announcements regarding our Play! Pokémon program in early 2021.

In the meantime, Pokémon Trading Card Game players can continue to participate in League at Home events. We will also be providing additional details about a new Pokémon TCG Online series named Play! Pokémon Team Challenge launching later this year.

Until we can all play together in person again, stay safe and enjoy playing and battling online.

During the official Pokémon Sword and Shield - Pokemon Korea Champion Invitational Broadcast (포켓몬스터소드・실드 포켓몬 대한민국 챔피언 초청전 생중계) which was broadcast on YouTube on September 5th, 2020, a serial code to get a King’s Rock in Pokémon Sword and Shield was announced. The code is: K2020CHAMP10NS and it redeemable from September 5th, 2020 until September 6th, 2020 at 23:59. The code can be used worldwide to all players of Pokémon Sword and Shield.



Details about the Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution (극장판 포켓몬스터 뮤츠의 역습 EVOLUTION) event Pokémon distributions were also announced during the stream. The movie which premieres in South Korea on September 30th, 2020 will have 2 serial codes. Players of Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's, Go, Eevee! can get a level 70 Mewtwo that knows the moves Psychic, Shadow Ball, Barrier and Calm Mind. The Pokémon Company International announced on August 28th, 2020 that the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Sword & Shield Vivid Voltage Expansion would be released around the world on November 13th, 2020. High resolution images from the press release have been added to an Imageboard thread.

The next expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Sword & Shield—Vivid Voltage, from The Pokémon Company International is set to arrive around the world on November 13, 2020, in booster packs, theme decks, Elite Trainer Boxes, and special collections.


In Sword & Shield—Vivid Voltage, the recently discovered Mythical Pokémon Zarude makes its Pokémon TCG debut alongside other highly-collectible cards such as Pikachu VMAX, Orbeetle VMAX, and Coalossal VMAX shown in their Gigantamax forms.


The upcoming set will also debut a new type of card called Amazing Pokémon, which features a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon like Celebi, illustrated with vividly rainbow backgrounds that extend outside of the frame, as well as foil and etched details.
