Akihiro Miwa, birth name Shingo Maruyama (丸山臣吾), was a Japanese voice actor, actor, writer, and drag queen. Miwa was born in Nagasaki Prefecture. They became a professional singer at the age of 16 and gained attention by performing classical, chanson, tango, Latin, and jazz music. In 1957, the song "Meke Meke" became a massive hit.
On June 28th, 2026, it was announced on the official website that Miwa passed away on June 20th, 2026, at the age of 91 due to old age. In their final moments, they expressed their gratitude by saying, "Thank you" and quietly closed their eyes. Funeral and memorial service were held privately for close family members only and there was no plans for a farewell gathering or memorial service. Over the past year before Miwa's death, due to issues from advanced age, they had scaled back doing work and was focusing on regaining strength. After their health began decline about three months prior to their death, they had been resting at home.
