The "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution" Premiere Celebration Project! Part 6: Mine Yoshizaki of "Sgt. Frog" fame draws "The Shocking Duo! Pikachu and Copy Pikachu"

Mine Yoshizaki draws a Pokémon picture with intense passion!!

"Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution", the full 3DCG remake of the movie that served as the ultimate starting point for the Pokémon movie series, finally premieres Friday July 12th!!

To celebrate this return of the legend itself, legendary manga artists and celebrities that love Pokémon have drawn pictures based on "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution"!

For this sixth installment, Mine Yoshizaki of "Arcade Gamer Fubuki" and "Sgt. Frog" fame joins the project!! This is Yoshizaki's first time drawing Pokémon...

This memorable first drawing is of Mewtwo, as well as Satoshi's Pikachu and the Copy Pikachu!

Artwork theme: "The Shocking Duo! Pikachu and Copy Pikachu"

This is the Copy Pikachu that was made using Satoshi's Pikachu as a base in "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution".

Yoshizaki drew a pleasant illustration of the duo with intense passion!

Even Mewtwo, who's standing in the back there, looks somewhat jealous.

We also have a special comment from Yoshizaki!!

This is the first time I draw a Pokémon picture.
All three members of our household enjoy Pokémon in their own personal way.
Thank you for always being there with us!
I'm looking forward to watching the new movie with my entire family.
-Mine Yoshizaki

Next week, we'll finish off the project by presenting a picture drawn by the singer of the movie's theme song "Kaze to issho ni"! The custodian of Pokénchi!! Shoko Nakagawa!!!

Corocoro Online has updated with the fifth part of the Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Legend/Legend Collaboration Artwork Project. Translations follow:

The "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution" Premiere Celebration Project! Part 5: "Pocket Monsters Special"'s very own Satoshi Yamamoto draws "The Strongest VS The Atrocious!! Mewtwo VS Gyarados!"

Satoshi Yamamoto from the super popular "Pocket Monsters Special" appears!!

"Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution", the full 3DCG remake of the movie that served as the ultimate starting point for the Pokémon movie series, finally premieres Friday July 12th!!!

To celebrate this return of the legend itself, legendary manga artists and celebrities that love Pokémon have drawn pictures based on "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution"!

For this fifth installment, the legendary maanga artist Satoshi Yamamoto, who draws the super popular "Pocket Monsters Special" manga that's current serialized in "Corocoro Ichiban!", "Pokémon Fan" and "Sunday Webry", joins the project!! The protagonists' thrilling adventures and the various Pokémon's active roles have been depicted by Yamamoto's hand, and he has given birth to a multitude of famous scenes!

Yamamoto poured his heart and soul into this drawing that's inspired by a scene from "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution", and the final result is now ready!!

Artwork theme: "The Strongest VS The Atrocious!! Mewtwo VS Gyarados!"

art

Gyarados confronts Mewtwo with an atrocious look on its face! Even though you can't see Mewtwo's face, you can still feel the air of mysterious calm it gives off!

It truly is an incredibly explosive situation! The drawing really gives off the tension of the moment right before the two unleash powerful moves at one another!

We also have a special comment from Yamamoto!!

I wanted to draw a picture very unlike what I normally draw for PokéSpe,
so I challenged myself to draw one that would get across Mewtwo's aloof strength just by showing him from behind, without his face being visible.
I hope the combination of that and Gyarados' intimidating and scary look
gives off the the kind of pre-battle tension befitting a picture named "The Strongest VS The Atrocious!!"
-Satoshi Yamamoto

Next week we'll present a picture drawn by Mine Yoshizaki, the creator of "Sgt. Frog"!!

Look forward to seeing what kind of drawing we'll get!!

The "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution" Premiere Celebration Project! Part 4: Manavu Kashimoto of "Croket!" Fame Draws "Bringing You the Start of the Story! The Kairyu Mailman!"

pic

The legendary Corocoro manga artist himself, Manavu Kashimoto, joins the project!!

"Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution", the full 3DCG remake of the legendary movie that served as the starting point for the Pokémon movie series, finally premieres Friday July 12th!!

To celebrate this return of the legend itself, legendary manga artists and celebrities that love Pokémon have drawn pictures based on "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution"!

For this fourth installment, the Corocoro legend himself, Manavu Kashimoto of "Classking Yamazaki" and "Croket!" fame, joins the project!! Kashimoto has created famous Corocoro characters like Yamazaki, Obabasama, Poosuke, Croket, Menchi and Risotto. Funny characters, cool characters, cute characters... all the result of his amazing drawing skills and sense of design!!

What he's now made a drawing of is the Dragon Pokémon Kairyu!

Artwork theme: "Bringing You the Start of the Story! The Kairyu Mailman!"

pic

In "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution", Kairyu plays a mailman-like role, bringing Satoshi and his friends an invitation to "Castle Pokémon", where Mewtwo awaits.

The Pokémon Zukan in the video games "Pocket Monsters Red/Green" even say that "It circles the globe in just 16 hours", so that's the kind of astounding speed it flies from the castle to Satoshi and friends at!!

Kashimoto put his interpretation of this journey to the paper with great passion!!

Kairyu's flight to Satoshi and his friends is the very reason we can begin telling the amazing story of Mewtwo!!

We also have a special comment from Kashimoto!!

When my daughter was young, I read her Pokémon picture books every evening.
Back then, I thought about how I wanted to try drawing Pokémon one day too, and now that wish has been granted!
I think I'll invite my daughter to go see the Pokémon movie again this year. It's been ages since last time♪
-Manavu Kashimoto

Next week we'll present a picture drawn by "Pocket Monsters Special"'s very own Satoshi Yamamoto, who's constantly drawing intense battles and exciting adventures!!

Look forward to seeing what kind of drawing we'll get!!

Corocoro Online has updated with the third part of the Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Legend/Legend Collaboration Artwork Project. Translations follow:

The "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution" Premiere Celebration Project! Part 3: Kosaku Anakubo of "Pocket Monsters Corocoro Ver." Fame Draws "A Rebirth Transcending Time! That One Legendary Pokémon!"

Kosaku Anakubo, creator of "Pocket Monsters Corocoro Ver.", once again drew this one Pokémon with intense passion!!

For this third installment, the creator of the well known manga "Pocket Monsters" for the Corocoro magazines, Kosaku Anakubo, joins the project!! His series started running in Corocoro Comic in 1996, before even the anime had had its 1997 premiere, making it the first ever work of fiction to be based on the "Pocket Monsters" franchise! Lots of Pokémon, with Pippi as the centerpiece, play hilarious roles in this series, and of course Mewtwo is one of the bigger players.

And now, that one legendary Pokémon exclusive to "Pocket Monsters Corocoro Ver.", which has never appeared in neither the video games nor in the anime, plans to strike back!!

Artwork theme: "A Rebirth Transcending Time! That One Legendary Pokémon!"

pic

And that Pokémon's name is Mewthree??!!

This is Pippi after it gained some of Mewtwo's DNA, which happened in the chapter "Defeat the Most Formidable Pokémon!!", Mewtwo's first appearance in "Pocket Monsters Corocoro Ver.". Readers at the time probably broke out in laughter when they saw this surreal design. And it was even strong enough to overpower Mewtwo!

People still talk about what a big deal this was, and it has become an unprecedented "legend" in itself! (?)

And now, Mewthree has been reborn by the hand of Anakubo himself!!

Mewthree unfortunately doesn't appear in "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution", but Mewtwo obviously plays a substantial role!!

We also have a special comment from Anakubo!!

The fact that I got to draw my 20 year old drawing one more time...
made my hand start to tremble, pi!
-Kosaku Anakubo

Next week we'll present a picture drawn by Manavu Kashimoto, the legendary Corocoro manga artist himself, famous for "Classking Yamazaki" and "Croket!"!!
