Leon is the strongest Trainer in the Galar region and he won the Championship in his first-ever Gym Challenge, without being defeated in battle a single time. To this day, his winning streak continues to grow, and his formidable talent for Pokémon battles is unmatched. He’s aided in his countless victories by his partner Charizard and he’s known to go all out during battles, no matter who he’s facing. His battle style has captured the hearts of the people of Galar. Leon's brother is Hop and the two may be a descendant of Professor Laventon, but this has not been confirmed.

Pokémon the Series

In the finals of the Pokémon World Championships, the tournament that determines the world's best at Pokémon battling, Leon battled against Lance, the winner of the Elite Four Cup in the Kanto region. In the one-on-one final, the two Daimaxed their Pokémon but Leon's Charizard came out victorious. Leon was then crowned world champion.

Sonia is a childhood friend of Leon. She is studying to become a Pokémon Professor. Part of the reason she wanted to become a professor is she wants to stay close to her grandma but it's mainly because of Leon. They both love Pokémon, so they both wanted to become strong Trainers. When she was younger, she was the one who taught Leon about Pokémon battles but once he made his debut as a Trainer, his talent as a Trainer was far better than hers and there was no way she could've trained hard enough to be able to defeat him.
