Pokémon Scramble U is the first Nintendo Wii U game to take advantage of the NFC capabilities of the system. Players can place compatible NFC figures on the gamepad reader and that corresponding Pokémon will appear in the game. The figures can be used in other player's games and can retain the progress players made. They can also be raised by obtaining coins within the game.
The second combo is the game as a download card with a special Pokémon Center Punching Pikachu as well as Pokémon Scramble U NFC figure carrying case (ポケモンスクランブル Ｕ NFCフィギュア キャリングケース). It's special pre-order price is 2380yen, 400yen cheaper than buying them separately. Both combo's are limited supplies and are available for purchase from March 20th, 2013 until supplies end.
People can also just buy the game separately by getting a download card to get the game off of the Nintendo Wii U eShop. The game costs 1800yen on its own.
The Pokémon Scramble U NFC figure carrying case (ポケモンスクランブル Ｕ NFCフィギュア キャリングケース) can also be purchased separately for 580yen. The price will go up to 780yen after the introductory period ends. It holds 7 figues, all of the series 1 figures plus the bonus PC Pikachu.
