Niantic has announced that a new event will take place in Latin America and South America to celebrate Carnival. The event will be active from Thursday, February 18th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, February 19th at 8:00 p.m. (local time).

Celebrate Carnival from home with Pokémon GO!

Trainers, Every year during this season, people in different regions of the world gather to celebrate Carnival. These celebrations are some of the largest and most famous street parties in the world, which originated centuries ago in Europe and are extremely popular today in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially in Brazil.

In 2021 we won't be able to celebrate Carnival in the streets in the same way we were used to. But that doesn't mean we won't be able to celebrate in the company of our Pokémon companions and connect virtually with our family and friends. That's why, we're excited to introduce the first Carnival celebration in Pokémon GO!

Time, date and region
  • From Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, February 19 at 8:00 p.m. (local time)
  • This event will take place exclusively in the following regions: Latin America and the Caribbean (Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela)
Features
  • Pokémon that represent the festive spirit of Carnival and some of its traditions, such as music and happiness, will be most frequently attracted to Incense, including Diglett, Jigglypuff, Hitmontop, Torchic, Lotad, Kricketot, Bronzor, Munna, and Emolga.
  • With any luck, you might find a Shiny Jigglypuff!
  • During this event, the duration of the Incense will be three hours.
Hours for Raiding and more
  • On February 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, a Raid Hour will take place with Kricketot as the featured Pokémon. If you're lucky, you might find a varicolored one!
  • On February 19 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, don't let the party die with a Raid Hour featuring Emolga, the Flappy Pokémon!
  • During the event, visit the store to find a one-time redeemable free item pack that includes 50 Poké Balls, 2 Incense, 10 Razz Berries and a Remote Raid Pass!
We hope Trainers enjoy this special celebration, and we look forward to enjoying Carnival at home and virtually with our friends, family and Pokémon. Even though we may not all be able to physically celebrate together, we believe this adventure will keep us connected and united!
