A Message from the Pokémon Masters EX Team (Vol. 40)

Greetings, Trainers. We’re the producers of Pokémon Masters EX, Yu Sasaki and Tetsuya Iguchi, here with a new message for you. Today, we’ll focus on details about new Sync Pairs that debut at the end of November.

App Update for Late November

Battle-Related Improvements
As we mentioned last month, we’ve released an update that includes improvements to battles. First off, as a way to further improve the user experience for battles, we’ve added a feature that lets you instantly start a battle over with the same team from the pause menu.

Plus, with this update, you can use Trainers with the same name on the same Team for battles. This will allow for an even wider range of strategies, so we hope you try out lots of different teams.

Exchanging Items

In this update, we’ve adjusted the item exchange menu by adding several new tabs and moving some of the content that was in the General category. We’re also planning future improvements to the UI to give you an even more enjoyable experience while playing, so stay tuned for more info.

A New Arrival in the Trainer Lodge!

Starting November 29, 2022, you’ll be able to invite Serena as your Guest to the Trainer Lodge! To invite Serena, you’ll need to team up with Serena & Fennekin first. You can team up with Serena & Fennekin from various Sync Pair Scouts, so be sure to invite her once you’ve teamed up with this Sync Pair.

Plus, the Monthly Poké Fair Scout Vol. 4 will be available at the same time, featuring Marnie & Morpeko, who you need to team up with in order to invite Marnie as a Guest. Serena & Fennekin aren’t featured, but they are included in this Sync Pair Scout.

Each month, we plan to continue featuring a Fair-Exclusive Sync Pair in the Monthly Poké Fair Scout whose Trainer can be invited to the Trainer Lodge by teaming up with them, so we hope you make use of it.

Neo Champions: Leaders of a New Era Is Coming!

On November 29, 2022, an innovative and new type of story event called Neo Champions: Leaders of a New Era will begin! In this event, as Trainers from each region gather on Pasio, a competition is held to crown a new Champion called the Neo Champion. Serena and Calem get chosen to participate, and their story unfolds.

Also, to coincide with this event, Serena and Calem will appear as Master Sync Pairs in the Sync Pair Scout on separate days! They’ll be wearing outfits that honor the title of Neo Champion, so we hope you look forward to it. Pasio will continue to host tournaments to find a new generation of Neo Champions, so stay tuned for future developments!

Serena (Champion) & Greninja

Serena (Champion) & Greninja are a Water-type tech Master Sync Pair. With their Dashing Dark Transformation or Wondrous Water Transformation Passive Skills, their Sync Move type and some of their Passive Skills will change by using Water Shuriken or Brutal Swing.

When their Sync Move is Water type, they’ll get the Unfortunate Strike 9 Passive Skill. When their Sync Move is Dark type, they’ll get the Discombobulate 9 Passive Skill, which lets them lower the target’s stats, so try them both depending on the battle situation.

Plus, their B Quick Attack Buddy Move not only lowers the target’s Defense and Sp. Def by two stat ranks, but also lowers the target’s Water Type Rebuff by one rank when Serena (Champion) & Greninja’s Sync Move is Water type. When their Sync Move is Dark type, B Quick Attack lowers the opponent’s Dark Type Rebuff by one rank, reduces Serena (Champion) & Greninja’s Sync Move countdown by one, and raises the Speed of all allies by three stat ranks.

In addition, their Glory of Tomorrow! Move raises their Attack by two stat ranks, their Sp. Atk by four stat ranks, and their critical-hit rate by three stat ranks. This Sync Pair can hinder the opponent and use their Sync Move, which increases in power the more the target’s stats are lowered, to deal major damage.

Calem (Champion) & Greninja

Calem (Champion) & Greninja are a Dark-type support Master Sync Pair. With their Calm Fighter Water Transformation or Stoic Dark Transformation Passive Skills, their Sync Move type and some of their Passive Skills will change when using Water Shuriken or Brutal Swing.

When their Sync Move is Dark type, they can charge the Move Gauge with the Recharging Strike 9 Passive Skill, and when their Sync Move is Water type, their Restoring Strike 2 Passive Skill will have a chance to restore their HP when they successfully attack with a Move.

On top of that, their B Double Team Buddy Move raises the evasiveness of all allies by two stat ranks. When their Sync Move is Dark type, B Double Team will increase the Physical Moves ↑ Next effect of all allies by two ranks and turn the zone into a Dark Zone. When their Sync Move is Water type, B Double Team will increase the Special Moves ↑ Next effect of all allies by two ranks and make the weather rainy.

In addition, their Glory of Understanding! Move applies the Move Gauge Acceleration effect to the allied field of play, raises the Attack of all allies by four stat ranks, and raises the Sp. Atk and critical-hit rate of all allies by two stat ranks, making them a Sync Pair that can support their allies when needed.

Also, an event in which you can battle Serena and Calem in their Neo Champion outfits will begin on December 4, 2022.

You’ll be able to take on special battles that offer Champion Spirit as first-time completion rewards, so we hope you look forward to it!

Other Events

Other events planned for December include the Water- and Normal-Type Egg Event and the return of the Villain Event that coincided with the Johto Chapter of the Villain Arc.

In addition, seasonal events are planned for the middle of December, so we hope you will look forward to these as well.

Future Updates

We plan to make two major updates in next month’s update. One is a feature that lets you see which teams other players used to complete each battle.

In addition to being able to see teams that have been frequently used to complete each area, you’ll also be able to check Sync Grid examples and see replays of other players’ battles.

You’ll be able to refer to other players’ teams, builds, and playing styles with this feature, so we hope you’ll take advantage of it and take on battles that you may have had trouble with before.

The other feature will expand the customization options for the Main Character’s appearance, including the ability to change their hairstyle. This update will allow you to enjoy adventuring and battling in style even more, so we hope you look forward to it.

Our next message is scheduled for late December.
In it, we plan to share some details about new upcoming events and what we have in store for the new year.

We’re always working hard to deliver updates and improvements that make the world of Pokémon Masters EX as fun as possible.

We prioritize Trainers’ feedback throughout the development process, so don’t hesitate to let us know what you think.

Until next time, thank you for playing Pokémon Masters EX.
