A Message from the Pokémon Masters EX Team (Vol. 44)

Greetings, Trainers.
We’re the producers of Pokémon Masters EX, Yu Sasaki and Tetsuya Iguchi, here with a new message for you. Thanks to all you Trainers out there, Pokémon Masters EX has reached the three-and-a-half-year mark since launch. We’re incredibly grateful for your support.
We’re going to keep working hard to provide you with even more exciting experiences, so we hope you look forward to what’s to come. Today, we’ll share specific details about events and new Sync Pairs for the three-and-a-half-year mark of the game.

App Update for Late February

Redecorating Feature Added to the Trainer Lodge
A redecorating feature has been added to the Trainer Lodge! You can place Trainer plushies and other items on the center shelf and decorate certain areas with posters of Artwork or Scrapbook Photos. For plushies and other items that can be put on shelves, the same ones can be placed side by side.

Whether you go for a variety of different decorations or just want to fill the room with plushies of your favorite Trainer, we hope you enjoy adorning the Trainer Lodge in your own way. You can exchange Expedition Rewards to get items and posters for shelves. We plan to gradually add more items for exchange in the future, so stay tuned!

A New Guest Arrives in the Trainer Lodge

Starting February 28, 2023, you’ll be able to invite Gloria as your Guest to the Trainer Lodge! To invite Gloria, you’ll need to team up with Gloria & Zacian first. Gloria & Zacian will be featured in the Monthly Poké Fair Scout Vol. 7, which will be available at the same time, so you can team up with them if you haven’t yet. Gloria & Zacian will also get Fair-Exclusive Sync Pair tiles in this update, so be sure to check them out.

Revamping the Pokémon Center

The interior of the Pokémon Center has been revamped and event information now displays on a central monitor. By tapping the monitor, you can see information on which events are currently available. When viewing event information, you can jump directly to the event itself or to its announcement, so give this feature a try if you’re wondering what to play next.

Other Updates

We’ve increased the number of preset teams you can use from 30 to 100. We hope you make use of it when assembling teams for the Legendary Gauntlet, Champion Stadium, region rotation battles, and others! Additionally, on the filter screen, you can filter by Sync Pairs that are set to visit the Pokémon Center often and those that are not, so we hope you find this useful.

Neo Champions: Fight for the Future Together Is Under Way!

Neo Champions: Fight for the Future Together began on February 27, 2023. This time the head judge is Leon, and his judging criteria are passion towards victory and the motivation to grow stronger together with everyone.

As Hop, Marnie, and Bede form a team together with their partners—Galarian Form Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno—they face off against the ultimate Galar team. Will they be able to show their passion for victory and their motivation to grow stronger together?

Hop, Marnie, and Bede will each appear as Master Sync Pairs wearing Champion outfits. The three of them have formed powerful Sync Pairs befitting of their Champion attire!

Marnie (Champion) & Moltres

Marnie (Champion) & Moltres are a Dark-type strike Sync Pair that can attack all opponents using four slots of the Move Gauge.

Thanks to their Passive Skill, they can raise their critical-hit rate by three stat ranks the first time they enter a battle, each battle. Also, their Triumphant Spirit! Trainer Move can raise their Sp. Atk by six stat ranks, which means that they can raise all the stats they need for attacking to their maximum stat ranks with just one action.

In addition, as long as they have lost even a little bit of HP, another Passive Skill of theirs will raise their Sp. Atk by 40%. Because Triumphant Spirit! causes them to take damage equal to 10% of their remaining HP, you’ll be able to reap the benefits of that Passive Skill right away.

Triumphant Spirit! also applies the Enduring effect to them, and they can use Protect, giving them an unexpected amount of durability for a strike Sync Pair.

Their B Fiery Wrath Buddy Move attacks all opponents. Its power, as well as the success rate of its additional effects, cannot be lowered. It also ignores the target’s Passive Skills that reduce its damage or protect the target against a critical hit and ignores the target’s Enduring effect as well.

It deactivates once used, but gets activated each time your team uses a Sync Move, making it a very reliable move.

On top of that, they can reduce the Sync Move countdown by one the first time they enter a battle, each battle, recover their HP, and increase their Special Moves ? Next effect by three ranks the first time their HP drops to half or below each battle, making them an incredibly powerful Sync Pair.

Hop (Champion) & Zapdos

Hop (Champion) & Zapdos are a Fighting-type tech Sync Pair that can use Triumphant Research! to create a Fighting Zone.

Thanks to their Passive Skill, they can raise their Attack by six stat ranks and reduce the Sync Move countdown by one the first time they enter a battle, each battle.

They can lower the opponent’s Defense with Thunderous Kick, which uses four slots of the Move Gauge, or their B Thunderous Kick Buddy Move. Along with that, when lowering an opponent’s Defense with the additional effect of a move, their Passive Skill lowers that opponent’s Sp. Def by the same amount, so they can drastically decrease opponents’ Defense and Sp. Def.

Also, when one of their stats are lowered, another Passive Skill will apply the Free Move Next effect to them guaranteed. Since Triumphant Research! lowers their Sp. Def by one stat rank, they can keep using Thunderous Kick for zero slots of the Move Gauge.

Their B Thunderous Kick Buddy Move is a powerful move that ignores the target’s Passive Skills that reduce its damage or protect the target against a critical hit and ignores the target’s Enduring effect as well. It can be used once every time your team’s Sync Move countdown is reduced by six while it is deactivated, making them a Sync Pair that can deal major damage while lowering the target’s Defense and Sp. Def.

Bede (Champion) & Articuno

Bede (Champion) & Articuno are a Psychic-type support Sync Pair. They can use Triumphant Tenacity! to raise all allies’ Attack, Sp. Atk, and critical-hit rate by two stat ranks and also increase their Physical Moves ? Next and Special Moves ? Next effects by one rank each.

Their B Freezing Glare Buddy Move raises all allies’ Defense and Sp. Def by one stat rank and applies the Free Move Next effect to all allies, so it would be very useful when teaming them with a Sync Pair that mainly uses moves that consume a lot of the Move Gauge.

Unlike Marnie and Hop, who we introduced earlier, their Buddy Move can only be used a certain number of times, but their Passive Skill restores one use to their Moves each time their team uses a Sync Move, so they can use their Trainer Moves and Buddy Move every time an ally uses a Sync Move.

Also, just like Marnie and Hop, they can reduce the Sync Move countdown by one the first time they enter a battle, each battle.

Whether teaming with Physical Strike or Special Strike Sync Pairs, Bede (Champion) & Articuno are extremely dependable at raising offensive stats.

Starting March 5, 2023, you’ll be able to take on Marnie and the others in special battles. You can get Champion Spirit as completion rewards, so be sure to check it out.

Plus, you can see Marnie and the others in their Champion outfits enjoying the festivities on Pasio in a special Log-in Bonus to celebrate the three-and-a-half-year mark of the game. Be sure to log in and take a look.

Terrakion Will Be Added to the Legendary Arena

Terrakion will be added to the Legendary Arena in mid-March. This Pokémon is weak to Psychic-type attacks. We hope you look forward to this addition.

Other Events

Also, Villain Event Looming Shadow of Kanto will return on March 6, 2023, and Villain Event Spreading Shadows will return on March 8, 2023. You can raise Giovanni & Mewtwo to 6? EX and give them a power boost, so be sure to play these events if you haven’t yet.

In addition, Solo Event Special Day with the Guys will also begin on March 13, 2023. This mini-event will feature male Trainers in a different way than last year, so we hope you will look forward to it as well.

Future Updates

In the next update, we’re planning a limited-time Champion Stadium in an event format. This event will be different from the usual Champion Stadium in that only opponents with a specific weakness type will appear.

As you would expect on Pasio, this Champion Stadium will have Trainers assembled from many regions, so we hope you look forward to it.

What to Expect in the Next Message

Our next message is scheduled for late March. In it, we plan to share information about new Sync Pairs and events for April. We’re always working hard to deliver updates and improvements that make the world of Pokémon Masters EX as fun as possible.

Until next time, thank you for playing Pokémon Masters EX.
