Hold Item: Focus Sash

pic

"Hyperspace Hole", the move the giveaway Hoopa has, is an all new move only Hoopa can learn!
It is capable of dealing damage to the opponent even if they have used moves like "Protect" and "Detect"!

There's more! Hoopa loves pranks and can use moves that suit this image perfectly!

pic Psychic:
A Psychic type move that may lower the opponent's Sp. Def.
Since it's the same type as Hoopa, the damage is increased 1.5 times.
pic Astonish:
A Ghost type move that may cause the opponent to flinch.
It's super effective against Ghost type Pokémon, which Hoopa is weak against.
pic Nasty Plot:
A move that increases the user's own Sp. Atk by two stages.
By increasing your Sp. Atk, you can deal great amounts of damage with Hyperspace Hole and Psychic!

You can change Hoopa's form into "Hoopa Unbound" in Pocket Monsters Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
pic

Hoopa (Hoopa Unbound)
Type: Psychic/Dark
Ability: Magician

When Hoopa changes its form from "Hoopa Confined" to "Hoopa Unbound", its Attack, Sp. Atk and Speed increases. In particular, its Attack stat becomes really high.
It also becomes capable of learning "Hyperspace Fury", a powerful move only Hoopa Unbound can use.
Its power is so high it can fight battles on an equal or higher level than even legendary Pokémon!

The powerful move only Hoopa Unbound can use, "Hyperspace Fury"
pic

"Hyperspace Fury" has a power of 100.
It's a powerful move capable of dealing damage to the opponent even if they have used moves like "Protect" and "Detect".
You can teach "Hyperspace Fury" either by raising Hoopa Unbound to level 85, or by having the Move Maniac remind Hoopa Unbound of it by giving him "Heart Scales" carried by Lovecus etc.

Once you have Hoopa, go to the Pokémon Center to receive the "Prison Bottle"!
pic

In "Pocket Monsters Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire", if you go to the Friendly Shop with Hoopa in your possession, the clerk will tell you a creepy story and give you the "Prison Bottle".
This is an item that can be used to release Hoopa from its confinement and change its form into Hoopa Unbound.

pic

When you use the Prison Bottle, Hoopa will change its form into "Hoopa Unbound" for three days only.
When the three days are up, it will turn back into "Hoopa Confined".
You can then use the Prison Bottle again to change it back to Hoopa Unbound.

Location Scouting Report #9: Into the Desert

It's the third day of the scouting.
The team gathered in the hotel lobby at 4am!
We were going to set off before daybreak so we could view the sunrise in the desert from the sky.
That's right: We were going to participate in a "balloon tour" through the desert!

We set off, with boxed breakfast meals we had asked the hotel to prepare for us in hand!
After a short drive down the freeway, we soon arrived at the edge of the desert.
It was still pitch black all around us when we got out of the car.
Nevertheless, the heat of the desert sand seeped into our bodies.

The flame from the burner flickered through the darkness, heating the balloon and gradually inflating it...
Finally it was time to board it! We jumped into the gondola, which reached us roughly to our chests.
The balloon instantly rose into the air despite carrying both the scouting team and that day's group of tourists: 22 people in all! Wow!
The people, city and roads immediately turned into small dots and lines constantly moving further and further away from us.

That view of the desert, though!
We heard astounded voices from all throughout the gondola.
And in the middle of all that excitement, the members of the scouting team had their eyes firmly fixed on the desert, taking reference photos.

Occasionally, the cockpit below the balloon would let out a roaring sound from the burner loud enough to completely drown out people's voices!
The flame and heat from it would adjust the balloon's ascent and descent, so when it seemed like the balloon was getting close to the desert, it would once again rise upwards into the sky. When we were near the surface, we could observe how the sand dunes looked, and when we were high in the sky, we were able to experience the winds and the panoramic view of the desert.

As we kept rising and descending over and over again, daybreak was upon us before we knew it.

The sky was colored in a gradient ranging from indigo to madder red.
We were completely surrounded by a 360 degree view of a majestic desert and a sky dyed in the colors of sunrise.
This thoroughly satisfying view stretched out as far as the eye could see.

"Doesn't riding in this balloon almost make you feel like the Rocket Gang from the TV series!?"
Thinking of how the Rocket Gang gets hit by Pikachu's Thunderbolt and blasted off along with their balloon almost every episode, the feature film's writer Tomioka utters words of appreciation for them.
Maybe this trip will make us change how we write the Rocket Gang from here on!?

When the balloon landed, the dazzling, low sun was lighting up the surrounding area, growing increasingly brighter.

Event Report #2: An Account From the Public Dubbing Held Monday June 8th!!

"The Archdjinni of Rings: Hoopa" is finally premiering next month!
This is an account from the public dubbing held Monday June 8th!

All the extravagant guest voice actors are present and lined up!
Pikachu and Hoopa were there as well, standing at each end of the line!
We'll start with the narration for the short, "Pikachu and the Pokémon Musicians"!
Mizuki Yamamoto heads to the mike.

Scene 1:
The narrator is worried about Luchabull after it ran off due to a lack of confidence in its singing

Yamamoto (Narrator):
"We suddenly have a major problem on our hands! What can be done?
Pikachu, chase after Luchabull!"

Mizuki Yamamoto's narration has a very gentle tone that matches the short's atmosphere well! The director immediately gave it his OK!

Next up is a scene from the feature movie, "The Archdjinni of Rings: Hoopa"!
It features Tatsuya Fujiwara as Barza, Koichi Yamadera as Hoopa Unbound and Shoko Nakagawa as Mary!

Scene 2:
In this scene, the Prison Bottle has just been opened. Hoopa's original form appears

First off, a test take:

Nakagawa (Mary):
"You found the Prison Bottle!"

Yamadera (Super Hoopa):
"Hoooo-paaaaaa!!
Nghh... This here, this power! Hoopa is strong! Gahahahaha!"

Just then, a massive shadow appears behind Tatsuya Fujiwara as he is about to speak his lines!!

Shinichi Shinohara:
"Mary, why are you...?"

How was that, director? (heh)

Shinichi Shinohara just stole Barza's voice actor Tatsuya Fujiwara's line!!

Fujiwara: Hey, my line!
Shinohara: You'll OK that, won't you, director?
Director: Once again from the beginning, then!
Shinohara: What, why!? What part of that did you find off!?

The entire room is roaring with laughter!
Next up was the proper take!

Fujiwara (Barza):
"Mary, why are you...?

This time everyone takes things seriously and Fujiwara's line gets an OK.

Director: This gets an OK from me. What do you think, Shinohara?
Shinohara: I think Fujiwara's delivery was pretty close to mine...
Director: In other words, it gets an OK from you too! Thank you!
Shinichi Shinohara did a satisfactory take as well!?

Finally, we have the last scene of the day!
It features Tatsuya Fujiwara as Barza, Shoko Nakagawa as Mary... and Shinichi Shinohara as Hippopotas!

Scene 3:
In this scene, everyone is working together to create a new Prison Bottle

First off, a test take:

Nakagawa:
"Brother, the bottle was..."

Fujiwara:
"Rejected by Hoopa, the... shadow had no... where...
the shadow had nowhere to go, destroying the bottle...
We have to create a new Prison Bottle!!"

Nakagawa:
"Our great grandfather created the bottle using earth, fire and water... the three forces of nature!"

Fujiwara:
"Then, as long as we can find Pokémon of all those types,
we should be able to create a Prison Bottle as well."

Voiceover: Citron: "But none of our Pokémon have the power of earth... that of the Ground type"

Voiceover: Eureka: "Oh, I have an idea!"

Shinohara: "Hippo?"

Voiceover: Hoopa: "Appear!"

Shinohara: "Hiii-ppooooo-prr!"

Shinohara:
Director! I can hear the staff laughing!
...and since Fujiwara was fumbling his line so bad, I think I should play Barza...

Nakagawa:
You still haven't given up, have you? (laughs)

Shinohara:
Rejected by Hoopa, the shadow had nowhere to go...

Shinohara suddenly starts reciting Barza's lines out of nowhere!

Director: If only you'd channel that kind of passion into voicing Hippopotas... (laughs)
Nakagawa: These public dubbings have never been this much of a mess before (laughs)

Of course, everyone delivered their lines perfectly during the actual take, giving the public dubbing a powerful finish!

With that, the public dubbing was over and Shinohara won an ippon victory with his comedy techniques!
The powerful deliveries the guest voice actors gave during the real take truly showed how eagerly they're looking forward to the premiere!

The double feature "Pokémon the movie XY: The Archdjinni of Rings - Hoopa/Pikachu and the Pokémon Musicians" premieres Saturday July 18th!

Location Scouting Report #8: Prayer and Sunset

Having finished gathering material this second day of the scouting, the team set off for the hotel we would be staying the night at, which was located by the creek.
After checking in, we took a short rest, then decided to head back out to central Dubai again to get some more material, focusing particularly on the sunset.

Our guide took us to the rooftop parking lot of a nearby building at "Baniyas Road", which ran alongside the creek.
From here, we had a great view of both the creek and the part of central Dubai stretching out on the other side of it.

Looking downwards at the creek, we could see a huge number of both "abras", the boats we had used to cross the creek earlier that day, and "dhows", the wooden cargo ships we had seen at Dubai Museum, lie anchored.

The scene playing out before our eyes, with cargo being vigorously loaded and unloaded between the ships and the riverside, is one that has taken place constantly since the olden days of Dubai, a city that has developed the way it has by being a center of intermediary trade.
This scene really let us feel the power of the working man and the everyday life in Dubai, a sight completely separate from the economic zones and tourist traps of the modernized city we had experienced so far.

Just then, it was time for sunset prayer, and we heard voices of Muslim praying resound through the city.
One of the people joining in was a person conducting his prayer on top of one of the ships, whom we observed for a while.
Our team watched Dubai slowly grow dark across the creek as the sun set, listening attentively to the praying voices.

When we had finished our dinner, it was already as late as 10pm! And we were going to depart at 4am tomorrow!!
We double checked our plans for tomorrow, then went off to our separate rooms for the night.

The third day we were finally going out into the desert!
