The Pokémon Company International today introduced a new type of Battle Styles gameplay mechanic, Fusion Strike Style, that will be featured in the upcoming Pokémon Trading Card Game: Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike set launching around the world on November 12, 2021. High resolution images from the press release have been added to an Imageboard thread.

New Pokémon Trading Card Game: Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike Expansion to Debut Fusion Strike Style Gameplay Mechanic

Decorated with a hint of purple and pink, Pokémon with the Fusion Strike Style often have attacks that focus on teamwork and reinforce the idea of strength in numbers, as Fusion Strike Pokémon generally benefit when other Pokémon with this Battle Style are in play. In addition, Fusion Strike Style appears on Trainer and Special Energy cards, which tend to assist Pokémon of that particular Battle Style and allow players to build a Fusion Strike Style deck.


Arriving in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and special collections, Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike includes 25 Fusion Strike cards such as Mew VMAX, Genesect V, and Hoopa V. In addition, Trainers can play with the following cards:

• 20 Pokémon V and 13 full-art Pokémon V
• Eight Pokémon VMAX
• 20 Trainer cards and seven full-art Supporter cards
• One Special Energy card

Trainers interested in playing with the expansion before launch can do so with the Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike Build & Battle Box, available through their local participating Pokémon TCG retailer starting October 30, 2021. The Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike Build & Battle Box contains four Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike booster packs; a 23-card Evolution pack featuring key cards from current and prior sets, including one of four alternate-art promo cards; and a deckbuilding tip sheet.

The Pokémon Company has announced the Pokémon Draft the World Tournament, which will showcase the top decks and top-level players from the 2014–2019 Pokémon World Championships, will take place on September 18th, 2021 and September 19th, 2021 on Twitch.

Eight of the best Pokémon TCG players in the world will relive the best decks and matchups from past World Championship competitions in a double-elimination bracket extravaganza. The official Japanese Pokémon Card Game website has revealed two Professor Okido cards that will be part of the 25th ANNIVERSARY TCG Collection and they also announced a 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION Special Set.


Professor's Research (博士の研究) s8a 003/028 is a must-have card in every Pokémon Card Game deck today. It is a powerful effect that allows players to draw seven cards from the deck, giving you an instant advantage in the game. It will be available in the S8a 25th Anniversary Collection set and can be used in official tournaments.

In addition, the Impostor Professor Okido (にせオーキドはかせ) card will be included in the Promo Card Pack 25th ANNIVERSARY edition. This card is a reproduction of a card from the Pokémon Card Game Expansion Pack Vol. 1. It has an effect that causes your opponent to switch their cards in their hand. The cards included in the "Promo Card Pack 25th ANNIVERSARY Edition" cannot be used in official tournaments.


Along with the release of the expansion pack 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION comes the Pokémon Card Game Sword & Shield 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION Special Set (ポケモンカードゲーム ソード＆シールド 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION スペシャルセット).
