Takara Tomy has revealed that a new mode called PokéFishing (ポケフィッシング) has been added to their Pokémon Card Game Gacha (ポケモンカードゲームガチャ) gashapon game in Japan. For the release of the XY set Phantom Gate (ファントムゲート) which as at the end of September 2014, players of the Gacha game can spend 100yen to play the new minigame to get 3 TCG cards.

Nintendo Europe has announced that Shiny Gengar and Diancie will distribute the Pokémon throughout Europe. GAME in the United Kingdom will distribute Shiny Gengar from October 15th, 2014 until November 5th, 2014 and then Diancie for Pokémon X or Pokémon Y from November 6th, 2014 through to November 28th, 2014. They will also be distributed at the same time in France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands and Italy.

Two Pokémon Character Distribution Treats, Shiny Gengar and Diancie, Are Coming to GAME this Autumn

LONDON, UK—September 9, 2014—The Pokémon Company International today revealed that from October 15 until November 5, 2014, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video game players in the United Kingdom can get a special Shiny Gengar holding a Gengarite Mega Stone via a special code distribution at any GAME store. Players can Mega Evolve this Shiny Gengar into Shiny Mega Gengar during battles. Also as an early Halloween treat from Pokémon, fans can purchase a Pokémon TCG: Gengar Spirit Link 2-Pack at selected GAME stores while stocks last beginning on October 15, 2014. Each Pokémon TCG: Gengar Spirit Link 2-Pack includes two 10-card booster packs from the Pokémon TCG: XY—Furious Fists expansion, as well as the Gengar Spirit Link Pokémon Trainer card which debuts in the Pokémon TCG: XY—Phantom Forces expansion, launching on November 5, 2014.

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo Russia have announced that the Pokémon Trading Card game will launch in Russia on October 6th, 2014. XY Theme Decks and Booster packs deaturing 10 cards in the Russia language will be sold at participating stores.

Those that visit Comic Con Russia 2014 at the Crocus Expo in Moscow, Russia from October 2nd, 2014 until October 5th, 2014 will be able to purchase boosters and theme decks at the official Nintendo World boost located at the event.


Russian fans of the anime will be able to view the new TV series Pokémon the Series: XY which will premiere on September 20th, 2014 on 2X2. Some of the anime episodes can also be viewed on the official Pokémon TV Russian app which is available as a free download on the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android OS devices and the Kindle Fire.

Japanese Pokémon Card Game retailers have revealed a new TCG pack called the Pocket Monsters Omega Ruby Pocket Monsters Alpha Sapphire Launch Special Pack M Diancie EX (ポケットモンスターオメガルビー ポケットモンスターアルファサファイア発売記念 スペシャルパック MディアンシーEX). The pack will be released on November 21st, 2014 and will cost 500yen plus tax. The pack is still being advertised as part of the XY generation of cards despite being the first TCG merchandise to feature Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. The pack includes: a Diancie EX card, a M Diancie EX card and 3 booster packs from the XY expansions.

Phantom Gate Commercial

The Phantom Gate Commercial began airing over the weekend, most notably during the broadcast of Pokémon Get TV #46. The commercial revealed 2 new cards: Sazandora and M Livolt EX. Other cards from the set are seen in the commercial but are too hard to make out.

The official Japanese Pokémon website has revealed the Pokémon White Mega Gengar Campaign (ポケモン　白いメガゲンガーキャンペーン) which will take place from September 13th, 2013 until October 14th, 2014. A Shiny Level 25 Gengar distribution is the highlight of the campaign. The Gengar knows the following moves: Shadow Ball, Sludge Wave, Confuse Ray and Astonish. It is holding a Gengarite allowing it to Mega Evolve and is stored in a Dusk Ball. Sludge Wave is a move that Gengar can't normally learn.

McDonalds Australia has announced that they will be packaging Pokémon XY toys with their Happy Meals. The Pokémon Battle Launchers that were released in the United States earlier in the year will be released in Australia now although only 8 toys will be distributed but all 12 TCG cards will be available to collect. The Pokémon XY Happy Meals are available now at participating McDonalds locations while supplies last.

The 2014 Pokémon World Champions were crowned on August 17th, 2014 for both the Video Game and TCG tournaments. No details about the location for next years Worlds location was announced which is usually revealed during the closing ceremonies. There was also no new information for upcoming games.

On Friday August 15th, 2014, The Pokémon Company International revealed that the Pokémon Trading Card Game would be ported to Apple's iPad as an app. Full details will be revealed at a later time but it has been confirmed that the app will be released in late 2014. People attending the Pokémon World Championships can get a first look at the app on the iPad. Currently the digital version of the game is available to play on Windows PC's and Apple's Mac OS X.
