On November 12th, 2015, Nintendo broadcasted their first Nintendo Direct since the death of former Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. A lot of new Pokémon game information was revealed. Images from the press kit have been added to an Imageboard thread.

Latest Nintendo Direct Announces Pokémon Games—Including the Games That Started It All—Pokémon Red Version, Pokémon Blue Version and Pokémon Yellow Version for Virtual Console

Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon launch date and limited edition Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card revealed for Pokkén Tournament

The Pokémon Company International announced several new games today during the latest Nintendo Direct. The new games include Pokémon Picross and the relaunch of Pokémon Red Version, Pokémon Blue Version and Pokémon Yellow Version on the Virtual Console for systems in the Nintendo 3DS family. Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon and Pokkén Tournament were also featured in the presentation.

Nintendo 3DS

Pokémon Red Version, Pokémon Blue Version and Pokémon Yellow Version: On February 27, 2016, the games that started it all, Pokémon Red Version, Pokémon Blue Version and Pokémon Yellow Version, will be relaunched on the Virtual Console for systems in the Nintendo 3DS family. This time there is no need for a Game Boy link cable as fans can battle and trade just like they did in 1999, but now via wireless communication on Nintendo 3DS.


Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon: The latest installment of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series that has sold more than 13 million units worldwide is launching for Nintendo 3DS on February 19. With turn-based battles and ever-changing dungeons, players can encounter every single known Pokémon in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon—all 720 of them!


Pokémon Picross: The popular Picross series meets the world of Pokémon when Pokémon Picross launches in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS in early December. Pokémon Picross will be downloadable at no charge and will have over 300 stages plus an advanced mode. After solving number puzzles to complete pictures of Pokémon, fans will be able to add them to their collection in the game.

Pokkén Tournament: Developed in collaboration with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc., producers of TEKKEN®, one of the most successful fighting-game franchises in history, Pokkén Tournament brings Pokémon to life in a way never seen before where Pokémon move in direct response to the player’s actions while battling. Fans who purchase a first-run version of the game at retail will receive a limited-edition Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card that immediately unlocks the character in the game after tapping it to the Wii U GamePad. McDonalds and the official Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire website have announced that Hoopa will be available for players of Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire in the United States and Canada from November 27th, 2015 until December 23rd, 2015 at McDonald's via the Nintendo Zone. Hoopa is currently being distributed around the world.


Also being released around the same time as Hoopa at McDonald's is a new line of Pokémon Happy Meal toys and TCG cards. The toys being distributed are: Mega Latios, Pikachu, Lugia, Primal Groudon, Wobbuffet, Hoopa, Primal Kyogre and Rayquaza. There will also be 12 TCG cards distribution.

The Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Happy Meal will be available at participating McDonald’s locations in the US and Canada from Friday, November 27 to Wednesday, December 23.

Nintendo Japan has revealed the new Nintendo 3DS themes and POKéMON 151 Mewtwo and Pokémon Mega Mewtwo & BREAK Evolution Pokémon (ポケモンメガミュウツー＆BREAK進化ポケモン) were announced. These themes cost 200yen each and are available for purchase as of September 16th, 2015 on the Nintendo 3DS eShop store.

	The Flare Gang: A mysterious group searching for Zygarde Core. It appears they are plotting to use the legendary Pokemon Zygarde for something or other, but exactly what that is remains a mystery.

A small device called a Pokémon GO Plus will enable Pokémon GO players to enjoy the game even when they’re not looking at their smartphone. The device connects to the smartphone via Bluetooth and notifies the player about events in the game—such as the appearance of a Pokémon nearby—using an LED and vibration. In addition, players can catch Pokémon or perform other simple actions by pressing the button on the device. Pokémon GO Plus is being developed and manufactured by Nintendo Co., Ltd.


Pokémon GO is being developed by Niantic, Inc. Originally founded by Google Earth co-creator John Hanke as a start-up within Google, Niantic is known for creating Ingress, the augmented reality mobile game that utilizes GPS technology to fuel a sci-fi story encompassing the entire world. Ingress currently has 12 million downloads worldwide.

Niantic, Inc., The Pokémon Company, and Nintendo Co., Ltd., will all contribute to the Pokémon GO project.

Furthermore, Junichi Masuda of Game Freak Inc., the game director of the Pokémon video game series, is also contributing to the project. He is hard at work ensuring that the fun of Pokémon makes its way into this new project, and is also looking to come up with new kinds of gameplay while thinking of ways to connect this project with the main series of Pokémon video games.

Pokémon GO will be available for download at no charge on the App Store and Google Play. In-app purchases will be available.

The Pokémon Company International announced today that Pokémon Shuffle Mobile is now available for download at no charge on the App Store and on Google Play. The mobile version launched in Japan during the last week of August 2015 but it is now available worldwide.
