It's been announced that the "Pocket Monsters" anime TV series, which airs on the TV Tokyo Network every Friday at 6:55pm, will have a "Special Winter Arc" set in the Sinnoh region on Friday December 3rd and Friday December 10th, 2021! This arc will see the return of Satoshi's former travelmate Hikari and her partner Pokémon Pochama from "Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl"! High resolution pictures from the press release have been added to an Imageboard thread.
A promo picture and a promo video made for this arc have been revealed as well! They give us a premonition of what kind of incident the Legendary Pokémon of the Sinnoh region, Dialga and Palkia, will cause.
Satoshi, Go and Koharu get contacted by Hikari, who tells them Pochama has been abducted by someone. Similar cases of "Pokémon disappearances" have also been occurring all over the Sinnoh region in general! The trio hurry to the Sinnoh region and meet up with Hikari, who tells them that Pochama was apparently abducted by "another Hikari" that looked and dressed just like her...?!
After looking into the matter, the group learns that the Pokémon are being kidnapped by "someone" that come from mysterious holes of light called "gates" that connect to another world, and that these "gates" might have something to do with the Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia! The group leaps into a "gate" in order to get the Pokémon back, but what they encounter on the other side is... another Satoshi?!
In the promo video that's been released, we get to see the Sinnoh region's Champion Shirona, a Rocket Gang that looks different from what we're used to, and a clash between Dialga and Palkia...! A new space-timeless adventure begins!

Special In-Game Activations Celebrating the Movie Planned for Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield, and More
BELLEVUE, Wash., and LOS ANGELES—September 7, 2021—The Pokémon Company International and Netflix announced today that the next animated movie in the Pokémon franchise will premiere on Netflix around the world with the exception of Japan, China, and Korea on October 8, 2021. First revealed in November 2020, “Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle” marks the 23rd animated Pokémon movie in the franchise.
The first official international trailer for the movie was released today and can be viewed here. It features “Always Safe” and “No Matter What,” two original songs written and recorded by music artist Cyn for the movie. Fans can look forward to hearing these songs during the movie on October 8 and stream them on popular music platforms beginning today. “Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle” synopsis:
Deep within the Forest of Okoya, the Mythical Pokémon Zarude live in a troop and maintain a strict rule that forbids outsiders from entering their territory. Elsewhere in the jungle lives Koko, a human boy raised by a lone Zarude who left the troop. Koko has grown up never doubting that he is a Zarude. But one day, a chance meeting with Ash and Pikachu leaves Koko with his first human friend. Is he truly a Pokémon? Or is he, in fact, a human? When danger threatens the jungle, the bonds between Pokémon and human—and the love between parent and child—will be put to the test.
To further celebrate the announcement, beginning today, Trainers will be able to receive Dada Zarude and Shiny Celebi—both as featured in the movie—in their Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield games by signing up for Pokémon Trainer Club email notifications. “POKÉMON EVOLUTIONS” ANIMATED SERIES REVEALED FOR POKÉMON’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY
Eight-Episode, Web-Exclusive Series Premieres Sept. 9
The eight-episode series will take fans on a journey through all the known regions of the Pokémon world explored in the popular core video game franchise since it launched 25 years ago. Throughout 2021, The Pokémon Company International has invited fans on a retrospective journey of these regions and the Pokémon originally discovered in them. Like the retrospective, the series will begin in the Galar region, most recently explored in the latest video games Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, and culminate in the Kanto region, originally explored by players in the first games from the franchise, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in 1996. Each episode will focus on a story from a different region in reverse chronological order from which they were first explored in the games: Galar, Alola, Kalos, Unova, Sinnoh, Hoenn, Johto, and Kanto. Familiar tales from Pokémon lore will be told from a fresh perspective in every episode.
“‘Pokémon Evolutions’ is both an exciting new collection of animation for the brand and a thank-you to the millions of fans around the world who have joined us on this journey over the past 25 years,” said Colin Palmer, vice president of marketing for The Pokémon Company International. “Each region has been a touchstone for new generations of Pokémon Trainers as the brand has grown, and we wanted ‘Pokémon Evolutions’ to pay homage to that legacy while also being innovative and contemporary. It’s a new adventure and familiar all at once. And, with the last episode set in Kanto, ‘Pokémon Evolutions’ is a meaningful way to end our anniversary celebrations in the place where it all began for Pokémon 25 years ago.”
“Pokémon Evolutions” is being produced by The Pokémon Company International in collaboration with OLM Studios and will premiere exclusively on the official Pokémon YouTube channel and Pokémon TV worldwide on the following dates:
Thursday, Sept. 9: “The Champion” featuring the Galar region
