On June 11th, 2013's Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata revealed that Pokémon X and Y has added a new Fairy-type (フェアリータイプ in Japanese) which is super effective against Dragon types. It was also revealed that Sylveon, Gardevoir, Jigglypuff and Marill are Fairy-type Pokémon. Sylveon can use the move Moonblast (ムーンフォース in Japanese), while Gardevoir can use the move Fairy Wind (ようせいのかぜ in Japanese). Pokémon X and Y will be released worldwide on October 12th, 2013. They are also working on a way to transfer Pokémon from the DS titles to X and Y.

Two new Pokémon were also revealed: Vivillon (ビビヨン Vivillon in Japanese) and Noivern (オンバーン Onvern in Japanese). The Bug and Flying-type Pokémon Vivillon uses its wings to scatter its scales or create a strong wind to attack. Vivillon is said to have a secret hidden in the colorful decorative pattern on its wings.

Noivern is extremely combative toward anything that wanders too close to it. It flies through even the darkest nights using ultrasonic waves it emits from its ears. This Pokémon loves fruit, and feeding it fruit will keep it calm. Noivern can use the move Boomburst (ばくおんぱ in Japanese).

Pokémon-amie

A new feature called Pokémon-amie (ポケパルレ Poké-parler in Japanese) allows players to interact with their Pokémon. Players can pet them, feed them and make faces. Players can use Pokémon-Amie at any time to play with the Pokémon that are on their team. Players need to play with them over and over to learn their preferred way of being cared for. Treat them well to make them feel loved. Treat them badly and they may show their displeasure!

The more players interact with their Pokémon, the friendlier they will become. Friendly Pokémon may perform better in battle and maybe other good things will happen, too!

Fairy Type Matchups

How Fairy-type Pokémon and moves will fit into the battle landscape has yet to be fully revealed. But it is known that Fairy-type moves are super effective against Dragon-type Pokémon! Until Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, Dragon-type Pokémon had only two weaknesses: Ice-type moves and Dragon-type moves. The new Fairy type changes the balance in a big way!

Press Release

BELLEVUE, WA—June 11, 2013—Kicking off exciting Pokémon activity at E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced today that the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games will launch worldwide on Saturday, October 12, 2013 exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS system. The simultaneous worldwide release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will allow new and veteran Pokémon fans around the globe the opportunity to battle and trade never-before-seen Pokémon and past favorites with each other immediately.

Also confirmed today is that the newly discovered Pokémon Sylveon is in fact a brand-new type: a Fairy-type Pokémon. The first new type to be introduced in a Pokémon video game in over a decade, Fairy-type Pokémon like Sylveon and their Fairy-type moves will be super effective against Dragon-type Pokémon! Prior to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, only Dragon-type and Ice-type moves were super effective against Dragon-type Pokémon. Fairy-type Pokémon will include not only newly discovered Pokémon like Sylveon, but also Pokémon from past titles like Gardevoir, Marill, and Jigglypuff, which will be reclassified as Fairy-type Pokémon in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Fairy-type Pokémon, the 18th Pokémon type, will add a new dimension and strategy to battling in the new games.

More details about Sylveon, plus two never-before-seen Pokémon, have been revealed today:

· The Fairy-type Sylveon is an Intertwining Pokémon that can manipulate its ribbonlike feelers at will and can emit from them an aura that can calm people and other Pokémon. It often wraps these feelers around the arm of its Trainer as it walks behind him or her. Sylveon can learnMoonblast, a new Fairy-type move debuting in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Moonblast calls on the power of the moon to attack an opposing Pokémon. This move can be very powerful and also lowers the opposing Pokémon’s Attack stat.

· The Sound Wave Pokémon Noivern is a Flying- and Dragon-type Pokémon that is extremely combative and will attack anything that wanders too close to it. Flying through the dark night with ease, Noivern uses the ultrasonic waves it emits from its ears to attack. These waves are so strong they can reduce large boulders to small pebbles. A new Normal-type move in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y that perfectly suits Noivern isBoomburst. This move emits an explosive sound wave that attacks all surrounding Pokémon with the resulting energy. But beware—Boomburst will also strike any nearby allies, so consider the situation and your team’s types before using it!

· Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will introduce the new Bug- and Flying-type Pokémon Vivillon. It’s said there’s a secret behind the colorful decorative pattern on Vivillon’s wings, which it uses to scatter its scales or create a strong wind to attack. Vivillon can learn Struggle Bug, a Bug-type move that lowers the Special Attack of any opposing Pokémon it hits, so the move not only causes damage but also reduces the damage inflicted on Vivillon from certain moves during battle.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will also allow players to interact with their Pokémon in a whole new way with Pokémon-Amie. Playing and interacting with Pokémon that are in your team by using the Nintendo 3DS system’s Touch Screen will build a stronger bond with them. Building this special bond with your Pokémon in Pokémon-Amie will only help players in their future battles.

Seven Languages in One!

Players of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will be able to select from seven different languages at the beginning of the game. In previous games in the main Pokémon series, players were limited to using just one language. Now you can play in English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, or Italian! Once a player select a language, they won't be able to change languages again during gameplay.

Connect across the World with Player Search System (PSS)!

Players connect to other players nearby or around the world through the Internet. You can even communicate with players you've never had any contact with before. Player just need to tap on the icon and trading and battling can be initiated.

Horde Encounters

Sky Battles

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y now has dedicated aerial battles between Pokémon! Only Pokémon that can fly are eligible for Sky Battles.

E3 Roundtable

A special Nintendo Developer Roundtable for Pokémon X and Y took place on June 11th, 2013. Game Freak Director Junichi Masuda and The Pokémon Company International President Tsunekazu Ishihara were both in attendance. The event was live tweeted by the Official Pokémon Twitter account. One of the interesting tweets indicated there are over 800,000 Japanese characters in the game, which translates to 1.4 million words in English. Below are the new Pokémon that were revealed at this roundtable event.

Talonflame is an evolved form of the recently announced Fletchling, Talonflame is a Fire and Flying-type Pokémon that gains a whole new level of speed and firepower. It dives at foes, and then attacks with devastating kicks.

Clauncher is easily recognizable by the oversized claw on one of its arms. This useful claw can seize prey and shoot water at others as a projectile!

Disguised by its shape, Skrelp pretends to be a piece of seaweed. When prey gets too close, Skrelp bathes it in poison to keep it from struggling.

Nintendo’s Developer Roundtable at E3 - Press Release

POKÉMON VIDEO GAME DIRECTOR REVEALS NEW BATTLE SCENARIOS AND NEW WAYS TO CONNECT IN POKÉMON X AND POKÉMON Y

More Brand-New Pokémon Also Introduced at Nintendo’s Developer Roundtable at E3

BELLEVUE, WA—June 11, 2013—Junichi Masuda, Director at GAME FREAK inc., joined Tsunekazu Ishihara, President and CEO of The Pokémon Company, at Nintendo’s Developer Roundtable at E3 on Tuesday evening in Los Angeles to discuss Pokémon history and share new features debuting in the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games when they launch worldwide October 12, 2013 exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS system. Mr. Masuda revealed a new communication feature debuting in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y—Player Search System or PSS. He also showcased two new battle scenarios players will come across when exploring the Kalos region—Horde Encounters and Sky Battles. These new ways to battle will require Pokémon Trainers to plan accordingly and build a Pokémon party that can withstand a multitude of Pokémon or take on flying Pokémon high in the sky.

The PSS allows players to connect, battle, and trade with other players nearby and around the world. The PSS makes it easy to find other people playing Pokémon X or Pokémon Y near you or even on the other side of the world. When the new communication feature is on, the PSS alerts players when someone nearby is playing Pokémon X or Pokémon Y and gives you the option to battle or trade with them wirelessly. Players with a wireless Internet connection can also connect with Pokémon X and Pokémon Y players anywhere in the world via the PSS, making it easy to battle or trade with others close by or thousands of miles away.

When Pokémon like Houndour, Axew, Tauros, and Miltank appear en masse in the wild in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, players will be facing a Horde Encounter. In past Pokémon titles, Pokémon battles have always involved the same number of Pokémon on both sides, like a regular one-on-one match or a Triple Battle. Horde Encounters take battling to a new, intense level that forces a player to battle against multiple wild Pokémon that attack all at once—with only a single Pokémon on the player’s side. Players will need to ensure their Pokémon has moves that can attack multiple Pokémon at once or they may quickly find themselves on the losing end of the battle.

Select Trainers you encounter in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will challenge players to Sky Battles—fierce battles that take the action high above ground. While players traverse the Kalos region, Trainers standing high on cliffs or in other distant places will want to battle, but players can only participate if they have certain Pokémon in their party that can fly. The Sky Battle is a visually stunning battle scenario and an exciting new addition to Pokémon video games.

Never-before-seen Pokémon made their debut at Nintendo’s Developer Roundtable at E3:

An evolved form of the recently announced Fletchling, Talonflame, is a Fire- and Flying-type Pokémon that gains a whole new level of speed and firepower. Reaching speeds of up to 310 mph when diving for its prey, Talonflame can attack its foes with devastating kicks while embers spew from its body as it zooms through the sky. Talonflame knows Brave Bird, one of the strongest Flying-type moves. Use Brave Bird carefully, though, because the incredible strength of this move also does damage to the user.

The Water Gun Pokémon Clauncher uses its one oversized claw not only to seize prey but also to shoot condensed water at others as a projectile. This capability is so intense that it can crack a boulder! A Water-type Pokémon, Clauncher can also use its giant claw to crush opponents with the powerful Water-type move Crabhammer, which is more likely to land a critical hit. Critical hits against opposing Pokémon will do twice the usual damage.

Some would say that the Poison- and Water-type Pokémon Skrelp appears to be nothing more than a rotting piece of kelp, but don’t let its appearance fool you. Using its unique look to its benefit, Skrelp pretends to be a piece of seaweed, and when prey wander past it, Skrelp bathes them in poison so they can’t struggle when it attacks. Skrelp uses the Poison-type move Sludge Bomb, a move that can leave opposing Pokémon poisoned. A poisoned Pokémon will slowly take damage over the length of a battle.

It was also revealed that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are the first Pokémon titles that allow players the choice to play the game in one of seven languages: English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Korean, or Spanish.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will carry a suggested retail price of $39.99.

May 29 2013 Pokémon Smash 137
Episode 137 of Pokémon Smash, Marvel! Mountain of the Giant Kekking!! / A Special Feature on Mewtwo, with a Mighty Battle Starring the Mewtwo You Get with the Special Pre-Order Ticket! / Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku Perform 'Let's Hold Hands'! (驚異! 巨大ケッキングの山!! / ミュウツー大特集、映画特別前売券で貰えるミュウツーの強力バトルも! / 私立恵比寿中学が「手をつなごう」を披露!) aired this sunday.

After greeting the audience with a "PokéMorning!", Golgo introduced the "You Choose! The Pokémon Anime Requests" segment. Golgo himself had chosen today's request, which was sent by 8-year-old Hiroyuki Shima from Saitama. He requested an episode about Kekking, and wrote "If he doesn't move much, he'll grow fat" as a comment in the letter. Golgo pointed out that while Hiroyuki hadn't drawn any pictures, his request was chosen because he had written the letter all by himself, something they'd like to see more kids do.

Golgo chose Advanced Generation episode 180, Marvel! Mountain of the Giant Kekking!! (驚異! 巨大ケッキングの山!!), as a response to his request, and Professor Red started the episode with a "Ok! PokéReq GO!"

Mewtwo Analysis Special

As they returned from the rerun episode, Golgo reminded everyone that the movie "Extremespeed Genesect: The Awakening of Mewtwo" will premiere in just two months. To elebrate that, today's episode will be a special that analyses Mewtwo's character and explains what kind of Pokémon it is. For this reason, they had invited a special guest lecturer to the show, but when Golgo tries calling for this person, no on comes in, so Shoko-tan runs off to search. Right after she leaves, someone calls out "PokéMorning", and the "special lecturer" walks in. She introduces herself as "Miss Nakagawa, CEO of the Mewtwo Research Laboratories", claiming that Shoko-tan asked her to come to teach them all she knows about her darling Mewtwo. Akiyama and Yamamoto point out that "Miss Nakagawa" is clearly just Shoko-tan herself in a costume, prompting her to yell at them to SHUT UP!!

Thumbnail
Click on image for higher resolution

"Miss Nakagawa" explains that through years of research, she has discovered 3 key points to explain the awesomeness of Mewtwo. The first point is "Mewtwo's creation by human hand". Miss Nakagawa shows some clips from the beginning of the first Pokémon movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back, and explains how its artificial creaton made Mewtwo search for the meaning of life. She asks Red what the meaning of his life is, but when he starts talking about how it's his inventions, she yells at him to SHUT UP!!, saying she doesn't care about his useless inventions. She turns to Neese instead, who explains that his purpose in life is to spread the fun of Pokémon as a PokéSma member, and she tells him he did a GOOD JOB!! with that answer.

Thumbnail
Click on image for higher resolution

The second key point is "Mewtwo possesses powers far beyond the norm". She shows more clips from Mewtwo Strikes Back that demonstrate this, showing the scenes from the beginning of the movie where Mewtwo destroys the laboratory that gave birth to it. She then asks Robert what kind of powers they possess, and they say that since their work revolves around making people laugh, it'd have to be that. She asks them to demonstrate, adding that abilities and powers can make for a purpose in life, and the comedy trio present a short skit where Yamamoto plays an ambulance, and Akiyama follows him around, slipping random English words into the sound of his siren. She tells them GOOD JOB!!, then asks Red about his powers, but interrupts him with a SHUT UP!! before he can answer.

Thumbnail
Click on image for higher resolution

The third and final keypoint is "Mewtwo possesses both cruel heartlessness and compassionate kindness", explaining that while Mewtwo may have come across as evil in what they've shown thus far, that's not all there is to it, then shows a selection of clips from the climax of Mewtwo Strikes Back, where Mewtwo commands the copy Pokémon against the original Pokémon, but eventually has a change of heart after Satoshi's sacrifice. Miss Nakagawa starts gushing over this scene, claiming it changed the history of animation forever, and Akiyama says she's definitely just Shoko-tan in a costume, and is once again told to SHUT UP!!

Thumbnail
Click on image for higher resolution

Miss Nakagawa then says that there will be even more awesome things to see about Mewtwo in the upcoming movie, and launches the full movie trailer to demonstrate. She explains how Mewtwo will awaken and gain even more powers, and that it'll battle other Pokémon that were created by humans in the Genesect. Finally, she promises to show footage proving how awesome the Mewtwo you can get through the movie preorder ticket, before ending the segment for now.

Professor Akido's Pocket Monsters X/Y Laboratories

As promised last week, from this episode an on, Professor Akido will be presenting news on the upcoming game Pocket Monsters X and Pocket Monsters Y, alongside his assistants Group Member Yamamoto and Group Member Baba. This episode, he's presenting one of the new Pokémon that will appear in these games; the Generation Pokémon Erikiter. As Masuda mentioned, this is the first Electric/Normal type Pokémon in the franchise. Akido then shows a new gameplay clip, where Erikiter is shown using a new move. He explains that this move is named Parabolic Charge, and that it damages all the other Pokémon in the battle, including your own allies. The user then recovers HP equal to half the total inflicted damage. Yamamoto mentions that it appears to be an Electric move.

Thumbnail
Click on image for higher resolution

Akido goes on to mention that Erikiter can take in sunlight and use it to generate electricity, which can then be used to charge electric machinery and appliances. He then wonders if humans are able to charge machines like that too, and decides to run an experiment. Baba is placed on a bike that's connected to a TV via a set of wires, and he pedals as fast as he can, eventually making the TV turn on. The experiment is a success.

The Eievui Akiyama Friends

Today, Baba and Yamamoto have come to the Eievui Akiyama House with a question for Thunders Akiyama. When they knock on the door, however, Eievui Akiyama and Nymphia Nakagawa answer it. The two are surprised to see her, and she says they're "phiamates" (ルームフィア), Yamamoto pointing out that the term is "sharemates" (ルームシェア). They ask for Thunders Akiyama, but Eievui Akiyama says he's not home at the moment, so they decide to ask Nymphia Nakagawa the question instead. The question, from Nao Nakai, Hyogo, is What do you do for fun?

She thinks for bit, then says she likes to "phia". Baba and Yamamoto asks what that's supposed to mean, and she answers by jumping forward, striking a comic pose, and yelling "buccalphiatchacone" (バッカルフィアッチャコーン), parodying her well-known usage of the word "Buccalcone". Eievui Akiyama says she's always doing stuff like this, as she breaks into a dance, chanting "nym-nym-nym, nym-nym-nym, nym-nym-nymphia, nym-nym-nym", making the others join in as well. She and Eievui Akiyama then close the door, making Baba and Yamamoto wonder just what that was all about.

Back at the set, Miss Nakagawa presents details on the preorder ticket event Mewtwo. It is level 100, knows Psystrike, Ice Beam, and the two event-exclusive moves Heal Pulse and Hurricane, has the Ability Unnerve, and holds an Iban (Custap) Berry. She then shows a set of game clips featuring the event Mewtwo in action. First, we see a demonstration of its amazing Speed and Special Attack, as it enters a battle with the speedy Voltolos, moves first, and knocks it out with a single hit with Psystrike. Next we see it go up against an Ulgamoth. Once again, Mewtwo goes first, knocking out Ulgamoth with a single hit from Hurricane, a move it can't normally learn, and which is highly effective against Bug types, which Psychic types like Mewtwo are weak against. Its next opponent is Rayquaza, a Pokémon Miss Nakagawa says commonly carries the Yache Berry, a berry that reduces damage dealt by Ice moves, which Dragon types are weak against. This Mewtwo's Abiity is Unnerve, however, an Ability that prevents the opponent from eating berries, and Mewtwo thus manages to knock out Rayquaza with a single Ice Beam. Finally, we see Mewtwo in a double battle, where it and a Manyula are going up against a Dialga and a Roubushin, and Dialga uses Trick Room, a move that reverses everyone's Speed stat. This would normally be a dangerous situation for the super speedy Mewtwo, but since it carries an Iban Berry, it is able to move first after all, and knocks out Roubushin with a single hit from Psystrike despite being at so low HP it wouldn't have normally survived that round.

Everyone are truly impressed with this Mewtwo, and we're told that the special preorder ticket that comes with a voucher for this event Pokémon is now on sale. Miss Nakagawa reminds everyone to watch the movie once more, then bids her farewell, the rest of the hosts still pointing out how she's obviously just Shoko-tan in a costume. Shoko-tan returns right after "Miss Nakagawa" leaves, pretending to be sad she missed her, but when Golgo suggest they go call her back in, she says Miss Nakagawa is probably too busy for that, and quickly changes the subject.

Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku's Visit

Shoko-tan announces that they have some amazing guests related to the upcoming movie short Pikachu and its Eievui Friends on the set today, and calls them in. It is the pop group Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, the singers of the ending theme to Pikachu and its Eievui Friends, Let's Hold Hands, dressed up in clothes based on the Eievui Friends for the occasion, each member portraying one of the 9 Friends. The narrator mentions that the song is used as the ending theme for Pocket Monsters Best Wishes Season 2 Decolora Adventure as well, and we're shown a clip from the new footage used in the ending as per episode 5, featuring the girls in both live and animated form. Shoko-tan says they'll soon perform the song for us, but before that, we'll all get to see the first scene from the short itself; an entire minute's worth of footage.

The short starts off by showing Pikachu, Mijumaru, Kibago and Yanappu on a swing against a black background, which eventually lights up and turns into the short's title card, the swing making the letters appear as it flies over the screen. The short itself then starts, showing the same four Pokémon running through a forest, the narrator voice saying they're full of energy today. As Pikachu reaches the top of a hill overlooking a flower bed, it stops, but the other Pokémon crash into it, and send all four tumbling into the flowers. As they get back up on their feet, they laugh about the situation, and we see a Nymphia run through the flowers for a second before the clip ends.

As we return from a commercial break, Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku put on their performance, singing and dancing to Let's Hold Hands, with the hosts dancing along on the sidelines. After the song, Eievui Akiyama walks onto the set, telling EbiChu that despite wearing the outfits that they do, he doesn't think they quite become the Eievui Friends, and he wants to test them to see which are the most "appropriate" Eievui Friends. Tune in next time.

Episode 136 of Pokémon Smash, Stray Pokémon Hitokage / A Special Report on 'Pokémon X & Y', Where Masuda Announces Surprising News! / A Collaboration Project with the Pokémon Center, Which will Soon Celebrate its 15th Anniversary, Comes to Fruition!? / The Latest Movie News! ( はぐれポケモン・ヒトカゲ / 「ポケモンXY」大特集、増田さんが驚きの最新情報を発表! / 15周年を迎えるポケセンとのコラボ企画が実現!? / 映画最新情報!) aired this sunday.

The episode started with the hosts greeting everyone with a PokéMorning, before Golgo introduced the "You Choose! The Pokémon Anime Requests" segment.

Shoko-tan mentioned how they show has received a lot of mail for this segment asking for a Hitokage episode, and shows off several of these, before presenting today's chosen request, a letter from 7 year old Masashi Tanaka from Chiba, who says he wants to see the episode where Satoshi first met Hitokage. This happened in Pocket Monsters episode 11, Stray Pokémon Hitokage (はぐれポケモン・ヒトカゲ), and Shoko-tan explained that this was a really popuar episode that she liked a lot as well. A summary of the episode can be found in our episode guide. Professor Red then cut to the episode with "Ok! PokéReq GO!"

As we returned from the rerun episode, the International Division joined the other hosts, before Professor Akido suddenly walked onto the set, telling them that he had been living inside a hole on the roof of the set for a while now, heard the hosts coming, and thought this would make a good opportunity to explain the core concepts of the Pocket Monsters games to everyone.

Before that, though, the narrator explained that this episode was a Pokémon X/Y special, where we would be shown the newest info on the X/Y games, which are being released worldwide this October, and Shoko-tan introduced the person who would give us this info: the God of Pokémon games, Masuda from Game Freak. With that, Masuda walked onto the set, greeted everyone, and showed off a set of covered posters.

Golgo asked how far along the games were at the moment, and Masuda said the packaging has just recently been finalized, pulling the cover from the first poster, revealing pictures of their designs, which showed off the new legendary Pokémon: Xerneas, which can be encountered in Pocket Monsters X, and Yveltal, which can be encountered in Pocket Monsters Y.

Masuda then prepared to pull off the next cover to reveal more information, but Akido stopped him, saying they should go over the basics of Pokémon in detail once more before proceeding. He then asked Yamamoto and Baba to come with him, which they weren't all too happy about, as they usually end up getting hurt during Akido's experiments.

Akido took the two to his lab, where he explained that a lot of kids are going to play X and Y as their first Pokémon games, and that they should explain the history of the franchise to them. The narrator then gave a quick overview of the series, showing off all the main titles, starting with Red and Green's 1996 release, where he explained how the concept of trading monsters wth friends via link cable created an entirely new and innovative game experience. Professor Akido then launched his breakdown of the series' key points.

The first key point is how the games have you start your journey as a Pokémon Trainer by selecting one of three starter Pokémon as your partner. He then demonstrated this by having Baba, dressed up as a Youngster, choose between the three starter Pokémon from Black and White: The Grass Type Tsutarja, the Fire Type Pokabu, and the Water Type Mijumaru, here portrayed by Yamamoto in a costume. Youngster Baba doesn't think Mijumaru looks all that cute from the hat and down, but still ends up choosing it, as Akido explains that one can choose Pokémon based on either type or looks - it's all up to you. The narrator then showed a clip presenting the three starter Pokémon from X and Y, the Grass Type Harimaron, the Fire Type Fokko, and the Water Type Keromatsu, asking the viewers which of the three they want to start with.

The next key point is, of course, how Trainers catch new Pokémon on their journey and add them to their teams, with the narrator explaining that one of the goals of the game is to catch all the Pokémon and register them in your Zukan. Yamamoto, dressed as the Worker Trainer class, joined Professor Akido, as they went to the world of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, where they searched around in a thicket, the narrator explaining how this is the most common way to find Pokémon. Suddenly, a wild Pachirisu, or at least a man in a Pachirisu costume, jumped out at them, and Worker Yamamoto started the battle by sending out a Naetle, portrayed by Baba in a costume.

The narrator explained that wild Pokémon need to be weakened with attacks before they can be caught, and Worker Yamamoto decided to have Naetle Baba start off with a Tackle attack, but the Pachirisu attacked him first with Quick Attack, a move that always hits before the opponent. Naetle Baba then hit back with a Tackle, and Yamamoto decided to try a monster ball, the item used for catching Pokémon. Since Pachirisu was so big, Akido gave him a specially-made giant monster ball, which Yamamoto pointed out was just a bead cushion. Still, he threw it at the Pachirisu, and it went into the ball, though popped back out shortly after, the narrator explaining that the more you weaken a Pokémon, the easier it is to catch.

Naetle Baba continued the battle by using Razor Leaf, portrayed by him tossing salad at the Pachirisu man, followed by putting a leaf-motif bucket on his head and knocking on it. Yamamoto pointed out that that wasn't a leaf, but Baba said it still seemed to do damage, so Yamamoto tried throwing another monster ball. Once again, Pachirisu went inside the ball, and it started to shake, the narrator explaining how you have to wait until the ball stops shaking before the Pokémon is caught. And unfortunately, the Pachirisu broke out before the ball shaked for the last time, attacking Baba as the narrator explained that no matter how much a Pokémon is weakened, it's never guaranteed you'll catch it, which adds to the suspense.

Yamamoto threw a third monster ball, and the Pachirisu stayed in this time, with the narrator explaining how you'll keep catching Pokémon on your journey, using your assembled team to win gym badges, and work to fill the Pokémon Zukan.

With that, Akido, Yamamoto and Baba returned to the set, as Masuda prepared the next announcement; the revelation of the adventure's protagonists. He pulled off the cover on the next poster, and showed off the designs of the playable boy and girl characters, with the hosts pointing out how stylish and cool they looked, with Neese doing a little dance to introduce himself to them at Akido's request. We're then introduced to an entirely new feature: the ability to alter your character's appearance, choosing between three combinations of skin and hair color.

Next, Masuda says he has some really noteworthy info to reveal; the setting of the new adventure. He pulls off the cover from a third poster, revealing a map of the new region, the Kalos Region, and Shoko-tan points out a snow-covered area and a castle as particularly interesting places. We're then shown a closer look at the city in the center of the region, Miare City, as Masuda pulls off the cover from another poster showing a picture of it, the hosts calling attention to a tower in the background and what looks like an open cafe.

Masuda then says he'll show us a video clip from Kalos and Miare. The clip has ever before been shown on TV, and shows the protagonists running through the city, giving us detailed views of them up close. One of the scenes shows the girl running diagonally, which really surprises everyone, Baba saying he's always wanted to run diagonally in a Pokémon game.

Finally, Shoko-tan asks Masuda to reveal the biggest news of all, and he pulls the cover off the last poster, revealing some all-new Pokémon:
First is the Generation Pokémon Erikiter (エリキテル), an Electric/Normal type, a type combination never before seen, with height 0.5 m and weight 6.0 kg. Shoko-tan says looks like it can evolve, and Golgo asks what it sounds like, and Masuda tells him he'll have to wait and see when the game comes out.
Next, the Japanese Robin Pokémon Yayakoma (ヤヤコマ), a Normal/Flying type, 0.3 m tall and weighing 1.7 kg. Shoko-tan is captivated by how cute it is, but the narrator says it's likely to be really fierce in battle.
Next up is the Mischievous Pokémon Yancham (ヤンチャム), a Fighting type, 0,6 m tall and weighing 8.0 kg. Shoko-tan is once again beside herself with how cute it is and asks Masuda to stop already, then asks if it evolves, Yamamoto saying it looks like it'll get really strong upon evolution.
The final new Pokémon is the Ride Pokémon Gogoat (ゴーゴート), a Grass type, 1.7 m tall and weighing 91.0 kg. The hosts wonder what is meant by "Ride Pokémon", Maru asking if it means you can ride it, prompting Masuda to show a new video clip. The clip starts off by showing Gogoat battling a Yancham, and we see that it can use the Grass type move Horn Leech. Next, we're shown the boy protagonist riding a Gogoat through Miare City, proving that Maru was right, you can indeed ride Gogoat.

The narrator says there are still many more exciting clips to show, but Masuda says they've unfortunately ran out of time. Everyone yells at Akido for wasting so much time with his segment, and he says he'll make amends: Every week from now on, he'll promise to present new information on Pokémon X/Y, such as new Pokémon, which he'll get straight from Masuda. With that, Masuda bids his farewell, and everyone thanks him for the info he presented.

The Pokémon Center's 15th Anniversary Events

This year, the Pokémon Center stores are celebrating their 15th anniversary, and there will be lots of fun tie-in event, such as a new exclusive Nintendo 3DS LL design, battle guides booklets, and event Pokémon giveaways. Pokémon Smash will be doing a tie-in event as well: Recruiting new "special employees" of Pokémon Enterprise.

In other words, you can go to a Pokémon Center and receive a specially-made business card with your name on it, making you a special employee of P.e. Baba and Yamamoto then show what happened when they presented this event to the Pokémon Center, showing a clip of them decked out in full suits, entering the Pokémon Center Tokyo, where they talked to staff member Aoike (青池), who's busy hanging up posters advertising various 15th Anniversary tie-in events.

They hand her their business cards, and we're shown that the Pokémon Enterprise members have each made their own personal business cards, with their motto written on the back in their own handwriting (Shoko-tan's says "Youth is finite, always be greedy", which Yamamoto points out is a kinda mean thing to say). He then shows off the empty business cards the kids can fill out, and we're explained that you also get a copy of one of the Pokémon Enterprise members' business cards alongside it.

Aoike says she thinks this is a great event, but says someone else just presented a different event. She takes Baba and Yamamoto to see their rival, which turns out to be Eievui Akiyama, currently having a staff member set up a poster in the store for him! The poster shows all of the Eievui Akiyama Friends, and he explains that this is a popularity poll, and that people can vote for their favorite of the Friends by putting a sticker under that Friend's name on a separate poster nearby.

Baba and Yamamoto point out that Nymphia Nakagawa isn't an option, and Eievui Akiyama says that if he had put her on there, she'd just have won way too easily. This would be the time to decide which of the two proposed events the Pokémon Center will run, but Aoike surprises everyone by saying they'll run both of them at the same time, thus pleasing everybody. We're then given full details on the events: By voting in the Eievui Akiyama Friends popularity poll, held in all Pokémon Centers, you will be given a set of 5 business cards - 3 empty ones to be filled out, and 2 Pokémon Enterprise member cards.

Genesect Promo Events

The narrator reminds us that the special preorder ticket that allows one to download a special level 100 Mewtwo is currently on sale, before Shoko-tan and the Genesect Army reveal the second event Pokémon for the movie, the one that can be downloaded via local wireless in the theater before the movie starts. This year, it's an alternate-colored Genesect: the Red Genesect from the movie!

The Genesect can be downloaded to both Pocket Monster Black and White and Pocket Monsters Black 2 and White 2. It is level 100, and knows the moves Extremespeed, Techno Blast, Blaze Kick and Shift Gear. Apart from Techno Blast, Genesect can't normally learn any of these moves, which are all powerful, speedy attacks. It also has the Hasty nature, which boosts its speed, and arrives holding the Choice Scarf item, which increases its speed even further. Truly an Extremespeed Genesect.

There's more, too: You won't just get a Genesect for your video game in the theater, you'll also get a special Red Genesect Pokémon Tretta (limited to 3 million copies on a first-come-first-serve basis). The Tretta has 83 Poké-Ene, is Bug type, and uses the Bug-type move X-Scissor.

And that's still not all, as Red says he and the Genesect Army have another present to give away as well: The second set of Pokémon Scramble U NFC Figures (featuring Eievui, Mewtwo, Gureggru, Zoroark, Hitomoshi and Genesect) will be released May 25th, and in commemoration of that, a set of special Genesect Army NFC Figures have been made. They're a set of 5: the Red Genesect and 4 normal Genesect each with a different cassette slotted into the gun on their back. The set will be given away to 100 Pokémon Smash viewers who write in for the lottery. The deadline is May 29th.

As the show ended, the Genesect Army reminded everyone to submit their photos in order to join the Army. They then announced details on the presents that would be given out after they reach 1000 members: Once they hit the 1000 mark, 3 members will be given a Nintendo 3DSLL Eievui Edition, and 5 will be given a Download Card for Pokémon Scramble U, all 8 winners chosen via lottery.
