The Pokémon Company International and Fathom Events have announced that Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! will be coming to theaters around the world on Sunday, November 5th, 2017 and Monday, November 6th, 2017.
Bellevue, WA, and Denver—July 31, 2017—The new animated film Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, based on the globally popular Pokémon brand, is coming to movie theaters around the world for two days this November. The Pokémon Company International announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Fathom Events, the recognized leader in event cinema distribution, for international theatrical rights to the highly anticipated movie outside of Asia.
Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! is an origin story highlighting Ash and Pikachu’s first meeting and their adventures as they search for the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh. The iconic pair encounter familiar faces along the way, new characters including Trainers Verity and Sorrel, and even a mysterious new Mythical Pokémon, Marshadow. The first ever "Free Vocal Reactions Screening" in Pokémon movie history was held at Toho Cinemas Shinjuku on Saturday July 22nd.
Tickets for the free vocal reactions screening sold out shortly after it got announced,
and the attendants included both cosplayers and people wearing Nyarth masks,
to such an extent Shoko Nakagawa said "Everybody here is really hard core!"
There were even people from Sendai there.
The theater was teeming with energy even before the screening had started.
When Shoko Nakagawa showed up, applause and cheering burst forth from the audience.
And when Nakagawa called out to the audience "Your desire to passionately discuss the movie will come true tonight!
Let's spend this hot night together laughing and crying, making this a summer we'll never forget as long as we live!
I would also kind of like for us to sing "MezaPoké" together!",
a loud cheer echoed through the theater.
As soon as the screening started, you could hear everyone shouting various things.
When the opening theme song "Mezase Pokémon Master -20th Anniversary" played, everyone sang along together while clapping to the beat.
Whenever a Pokémon would appear on the screen, people would shout its name,
and whenever Satoshi or Pikachu appeared, everyone would wave their glowsticks with all their might, while clapping and shouting.
In addition, a massive applause sounded from the audience when Joy, who's played by Nakagawa, appeared!
Every single scene would have people shouting something, and the audience was bursting with laugher with no end in sight.
When the screening was over, Nakagawa said "Pokémon is amazing! I was crying! My eyes used Hydro Pump!"
With excitement still lingering in her voice, she continued expressing her thoughts on the screening: "This experience of shouting, cheering, crying and sharing our genuine thoughts together in this room where everyone totally gets it has made me once again truly sense that I've made so many friends thanks to Pokémon over these past 20 years."
Nakagawa, who has watched the movie 5 times by now and cried loudly every time, then commented that this free vocal reactions screening "was such a wonderful time I seriously kept thinking "Are you me?" over and over as we laughed and shouted together as one".
Next, Director Yuyama came in, and the audience once again applauded loudly.
He then went on to answer questions from both Nakagawa and the audience about scenes and characters in the movie.
When he was asked what kind of people he'd like to go see the movie,
Nakagawa commented "I watched this movie together with my mother once too, and it does indeed make people that know absolutely nothing about Pokémon cry as well.
I think absolutely everyone can be brought to tears by the bond between Satoshi and Pikachu simply by thinking of Pikachu as the person that means the most to them personally.
I'd like all adults to watch this movie, including both those that know nothing about Pokémon and those that used to watch Pokémon back in the day."
Director Yuyama answered "20 years have passed, and those that watched as kids have become parents able to watch the movies with their own kids.
The parents will be able to talk about their own childhood, and the children can see it as something all new. I'd appreciate getting a wide variety of people to watch it."

Premiere day stage greetings were held in Tokyo on Saturday July 15th,
the premiere day of "Pocket Monsters the Movie: I Choose You!"
The greetings started with Pikachu appearing on the stage. Then, answering Pikachu's summons,
came Kanata Hongo (the voice of Soji), Arata Furuta (the voice of Bonji), Shoko Nakagawa (the voice of Joy),
Koichi Yamadera (the voice of Marshadow), Rica Matsumoto (the voice of Satoshi) and director Yuyama,
all of them wearing matching yellow t-shirts with "I Choose You!" written on them.
Yuyama gave the first greeting: "The anime version of Pokémon started with Satoshi meeting Pikachu.
I wanted to try going back to that point and redoing it from scratch.
It would make me happy if you were to take this back home with you as a memory of this summer."
Hongo then said "Everyone, did you receive your "Marshadow"? I wanted to get it at the premiere no matter what, so I brought this..." before taking out his Nintendo 3DS, making everyone start laughing.
After a short while, he apparently received his Marshadow, and happily commented "There, got it! I'm the only one on this stage that has this Pokémon now..."
He then actually started talking about his guest voice actor role: "I've loved these movies for 20 years straight now, so I was extremely happy I was able to play in one.
I felt this was a wonderful movie, so I would appreciate it if you spread the word about it and watched it many times."
Next up was Furuta's greeting.
As he said "Hello. I'm Arata Furuta, I play Bonji. 20 years ago, when my friend (Inuko) Inuyama told me she was playing Nyarth, I replied "Huh, really?", and now that this franchise has gone on for 20 movies in 20 years, I think back to that and just go "Darn it!"", the audience burst into laughter.
He then continued with "I am happy to have become part of this family now."
Nakagawa raised the excitement level in the venue even further with her "Pokénchiwa!" greeting, then spoke passionately about her 20 years worth of happiness and love for the franchise.
"Both the act of watching the Pokémon movies, as well as Satoshi and Pikachu's bond in itself, gives me all these emotions, makes me want to become strong, want to become someone that can sincerely protect someone I value more than myself.", she said.
When she finished her greeting by saying "I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Shoko Nakagawa.", the audience responded with laughter.
Yamadera said "This movie depicts the bond between humans and Pokémon, between Satoshi and Pikachu,
though I have to mention that I and Rica Matsumoto here genuinely are old friends, ones that graduated together." He then turned to Matsumoto and continued with "I'm so happy you're still doing well."
He finished his greeting with "I have been standing here on this stage for 20 years straight now, and that really means a lot to me. Thank you so much for today."
Matsumoto then asked the audience "What did you all think? Did you enjoy it?",
and they responded by applauding loudly.
"That's great, Pikachu! I'm so happy!" Matsumoto shared her joy with Pikachu for a short moment.
"I believe this 20th year of the franchise can exist specifically because of the cast, the staff and all you people that love Pokémon. I feel like I've been walking these 20 years together with you all, one step at a time. They (the Pokémon movies) have now reached their coming-of-age ceremony, and as we continue working our best to give you many, many more movies, I hope you'll still continue to support us for many years to come", she said.
Matsumoto then changed the subject to that of the opening theme song, "Mezase Pokémon Master -20th Anniversary".
"I think this song has turned into something like an adhesive that connects people together.
Right now, people all over Japan are humming the song to themselves, and when I sang it at the "Japan Expo" in Paris some days ago,
all the French people there were singing it in Japanese as well. It's become a song that connects the world and makes people smile,
and I'm so, so grateful I get to sing a song like that", she said.
She then sang "Mezase Pokémon Master -20th Anniversary" together with all the actors and the entire audience. Once the song was done, the audience cheered and applauded loudly, and both Matsumoto and the other actors were deeply touched.
Before they could regain their senses, a surprise guest came in! It was Asuca Hayashi, the singer of "The Oración Theme: Let's Walk Together".
"I sang this song while feeling genuine happiness, passing on the emotions of all the actors, of all the creators, of the director, of the producer, and of all the enormously many fans.", she said.
As she gave an enthusiastic performance of "The Oración Theme: Let's Walk Together", the entire venue got emotionally moved.
Matsumoto got so touched by the song she ended up starting to cry.
When she was asked for a comment, she replied "I think everyone felt similarly to how I just felt. When I play Satoshi, I try to approach the role from the point of view of the fans watching, so listening to this song made fleeting glimpses of 20 years worth of memories appear in my head, and I'm sure this song makes everyone similarly sense different things and remember their loved ones."
Yamadera then changed the topic, asking Pikachu "What did you think of Asuca-chan's song?", but Pikachu was just as touched, crying "Pikapikachuuu" as it and Matsumoto embraced each other, giving us a scene where we could feel the bond the two shared.
The greetings concluded with a commemorative photo, where Matsumoto yelled "I choose" and the entire audience responded "you!".

Starting Friday July 28th! "Pokémon Fes I Choose You! in Sunshine City"
The "Pokémon Fes I Choose You! in Sunshine City" will be held
in Sunshine City, Ikebukuro, Tokyo
from Friday July 28th to Thursday August 24th!
Here, you can feel like you've become a Pokémon Trainer,
going on a stamp rally adventure from Sunshine City fountain plaza through the Alpa shopping center,
as well as entering the world of Pokémon to take pictures as it spreads out on the fountain plaza screen display.

Movie 20 Website Updates with Report from the Movie's World Premiere at Japan Expo Paris 2017
The official Pokémon movie website has updated. Translations follow:
The world premiere of "Pocket Monsters the Movie: I Choose You!" took place at "Japan Expo Paris 2017",
which was held in Paris, France on Thursday July 6th local time.
Japan Expo is the world's largest Japanese culture event,
presenting a wide variety of items relating to Japanese culture, including pop culture like manga, anime, video games, music, fashion and movies,
as well as cultural entertainment, kimonos, Japanese food and other forms of cooking, literature, traditional arts and more.
It's a momentous event that pulled more than 230000 visitors in 2016.
And at "Japan Expo Paris 2017",
The world premiere of "Pocket Monsters the Movie: I Choose You!" took place as the opening night event,
the only screening event for an all new feature film at this point.
This is the first time we try unveiling a Pokémon movie overseas prior to the Japanese premiere.
Ever since this event got announced at a Japan Expo press conference,
the place received a flood of inquiries about this world premiere, and had to quickly distribute numbered tickets in order to answer them.
However, at the day the expo opened,
so many visitors looking forward to this event were gathering at the ticket counter the event became standing-room only.
According to Japan Expo founder Thomas Sirdey, who was involved with the management of this world premiere,
"The Pokémon movies are extremely popular in France as well, so being able to watch the latest movie as an opening event
is the greatest experience Pokémon fans coming to Japan Expo will have had here thus far."
This movie is a story about the "meeting" and "promise" of Satoshi and Pikachu, who are currently absolutely perfect partners.
It's a touching story that both those watching a Pokémon movie for the first time,
but especially those already familiar with this duo, will not be able to watch without shedding tears,
and one person after another started crying loudly here in France as well.
When it was time for the stage greetings after the screening, director Kunihiko Yuyama, who has directed every Pokémon movie thus far, came onto the stage,
as did Satoshi's voice actor Rica Matsumoto and Pikachu.
The audience, which had just watched the movie, greeted them with loud cheers,
and when director Yuyama said "Nice to meet you. My name is Yuyama. How do you do?" in French,
the audience loudly shouted "We're doing fine!" back; The atmosphere in the hall was top notch from the very beginning!
"I enjoyed seeing the very pronounced reactions from the French audience, how they were laughing and clapping to the movie",
he said about the experience of watching the movie together with everyone in the hall.
As Rica Matsumoto then addressed the French audience that normally watches dubbed versions of the Pokémon movies and said
"Right now, voice actors all around the world are making people listen to Satoshi.
I want to say "thank you" to the Satoshis all over the world. And today I want to give you his voice live!
Are you ready? I got a Pokémon!",
the audience responded with excitement so far beyond Matsumoto's expectations it brought tears to her eyes.
When she sang the movie's opening theme, "Mezase Pokémon Master -20th Anniversary-",
the hall hit the peak of its excitement!
And as the event concluded with the entire audience of 3000 yelling "I choose you!" together,
national borders were truly eliminated and everyone came together as one!
After the stage greetings, voices of acclaim for the movie came one after another,
including "I have watched every Pokémon movie so far, and this one was the best yet! Très bien!" and "Even though this was a Pokémon movie, it made my father cry. I want to go watch it again with my entire family!"
In addition, it was announced that a Pikachu wearing the hat that Satoshi,
the protagonist of the TV anime series, wore when the series started airing 20 years ago (the Original Cap)
will be appearing all over the world local time Thursday July 6th (Japanese time Friday July 7th) in "Pokémon Go",
which has become a social phenomenon all over the world and which is currently celebrating the first anniversary of its launch.
We spotted Pokémon Go users excited at this announcement here at the Japan Expo as well,
here on this day that just saw its first world premiere in Pokémon movie history,
