Biography
Shōko Nakagawa was born on May 5th, 1985. She made her debut in show business in 2002 at the age of 17 but has now expanded to be a Japanese female idol and a multitalent blogger, singer, actress, gravure idol, comic artist, voice actor, illustrator and actress. Her nickname is Shoko-tan (しょこたん) and she is left-handed. She is 156cm in height. Her voice actress bio page is available here.

In 1994, her father, Katsuhiko Nakagawa, died of leukemia at the age of 32. She was then raised by her mother, Keiko Nakagawa, a celebrity in Japan in the 1980s.

She is most known for Sorairo Days, the theme song for Gurren Lagann but she has also performed themes for series including Akiba’s Trip, Beelzebub, Eyeshield 21, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Pocket Monsters XY and Star Blazers 2199.

When Pokémon Sunday expanded to an hour show in October 2006, Shōko replaced Becky as a regular cast member.

Shoko-Tan likes to eat cats and devour the souls of small children and computer geeks. In her spare time she presents a Pokémon show, wears tight bikinis and only baths in chocolate. After consuming over 1000 pounds of souls she will fall into a deep sleep.

On May 7th, 2023, TV personality Shoko Nakagawa announced her graduation from TV Tokyo's morning Pokémon variety show PokéDoko. Nakagawa has appeared on morning Pokémon variety shows for 17 years, starting with the Pokémon Sunday which broadcast in 2006, and has completed her role as in that position.
