His daughter Mallow's dream is to make Aina Cafeteria the number one cafeteria in Alola. She hopes that the Mythical Alola Stew will become a signature dish to make at their cafeteria popular and thus get lots of people to try her father's cooking.

Just around the time that Abe opened the Aina Cafeteria, he was in the forest and zoned out and ended up getting lost. He tripped and fell down a hill and injured himself. Oranguru not only nursed him back to health, but also listened to his problems and served him a delicious Pile Juice. Word about the "master" as Abe calls him eventually spread to the city and they all worked together to build the café so that islanders wanting to soothe their souls could come there.

Anna the on-the-spot reporter as well as the host of the television show: "Locally Reputed Gourmet Restaurant Special" came by to do a show on his restaurant. Mallow ran into the forest after getting mad with her father for making her do so much work without being appreciated and tripped an fell down the hill in a similar manner injuring her knee. She met Oranguru and it treated her injury and also listened to her problems while serving her Pile Juice which she recognized as tasting similar to the one that her father served in his restaurant.

He planned to participate in the Alola Bread Festival but while he was lifting a bag of flour, he hurt his back. His son Ulu took over the Family Restaurant's participation in the festival and he won first place for their delicious jelly bread featuring Grepa Berry jelly.
