Summary
Ash and co. are continuing their way towards Goldenrod City. Brock looks at his map. He tells his friends that they can go through the Onix Tunnel. Ash and Misty wonder why the tunnel is called the Onix Tunnel. Brock says that a lot of Onix live there. Ash states that they can get through the cave safely with water Pokémon, but he remembers that he doesn't have Squirtle with him. Misty tells him that she has plenty of water Pokémon that they can use. Brock thinks that they should go into the tunnel the next day because it's getting dark outside.

The next day, Team Rocket walk up to the Onix Tunnel. Meowth doesn't know why they have to go in it. James tells Meowth that the tunnel is the quickest way to the next town. Jessie says that if they didn't use the Onix Tunnel, it may take them days to get over the mountain. The three of them then walk into the tunnel. Jessie has a funny feeling about the tunnel. Suddenly, they hear a sound. A trio of Onix emerge from within the tunnel. James sends out Victreebel. Victreebel uses Razor Leaf, but the attack has no effect on the Onix. Then the Onix use their Rock Throw attack on Team Rocket. Jessie then sends out Arbok. Before Arbok can attack, one of the Onix binds Arbok. Meowth is glad that he isn't Arbok. Jessie picks up Meowth and tells it to attack. Meowth uses Fury Swipes, but he bounces right off the Onix. Then the trio of Onix use Rock Throw again, and Team Rocket runs out of the tunnel.

Team Rocket catches their breath once they make it out of the tunnel. James suggests that they use a water Pokémon to beat the Onix, but Meowth tells him that they don't have any water Pokémon. Jessie knows that Misty has some water Pokémon. They plan to steal some of Misty's Pokémon.

Ash and co. are near a river taking a break. They are busy washing up for the day. Brock greets Pineco. He picks Pineco up, and Pineco explodes. Pikachu notices a Snubbull run nearby. Ash sees the ribbons on the Snubbull. Misty says that it's the same Snubbull from the rich lady's house, and Ash wonders what the Snubbull is doing so far away from home. Misty thinks that Snubbull didn't like living in a fancy house. Suddenly, Snubbull senses something, and it begins to run off. Ash and co. chase after Snubbull. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is walking low on the ground. They can't wait to get their hands on water Pokémon. Ash and co. then see Jigglypuff walk out. Jigglypuff jumps onto a stump, and it begins to sing. Ash and co. and Team Rocket fall asleep. Snubbull sees Meowth's tail. It runs towards the tail, but it falls asleep too.

Snubbull wakes up. It notices that Team Rocket is gone. Snubbull comes to a pond and sees its reflection. It notices that markings have been drawn on its face, and it wipes them off. Then Snubbull sees Jigglypuff drawing on a Pidgey. Snubbull walks up to Jigglypuff and steals Jigglypuff's marker. Then Snubbull runs away, leaving Jigglypuff sad. Ash and co. have also waken up from their nap. They tell themselves that they've washed up twice in the same day. Suddenly, Jigglypuff walks up to them. Ash and Misty are afraid that Jigglypuff may sing again, but Brock notices that there's something different about Jigglypuff. It's sad. Ash notices that Jigglypuff doesn't have its microphone. Misty asks Jigglypuff what it did with its microphone, and Jigglypuff shows them a weird face. Ash thinks that they should help Jigglypuff find its microphone.

Jessie is angry that they fell asleep because their plan to steal water Pokémon failed. Meowth asks what Jessie's second plan plan is. She tells Meowth that they are going to use the old pitfall plan. James and Meowth sigh since the plan is getting old. Jessie tells them that she has a new invention that will help. She gets out a shovel that is attached to a pogostick. Snubbull sees Team Rocket digging. It walks up to Mewoth and bites Meowth's tail. Meowth screams and runs around in circles. Jessie picks up the Snubbull and realizes that it's the same Snubbull from the rich lady's house. Jessie thinks that Snubbull has a thing for Meowth. That is love. James states that the Snubbull would make a great gift for the boss. Jessie agrees, and she knows that Snubbull won't try escape as long as Meowth is with them. Jessie also wants to cuddle Snubbull so that she can be as popular as Misty and her Togepi. Meowth tells them that there's not enough room for both him and Snubbull. Jessie and James decide to take Snubbull and ditch Meowth. Meowth is shocked by Jessie and James's decision. He sighs and walks away.

Ash and co. walk on the road. Up ahead they see a bunch of food hanging off the trees. Ash is about to run towards the food when Misty stops him. She notices that they've fallen into the same trap before, and Brock thinks that the trap is familiar. Jessie and James are hiding from behind a bush. They wait for Ash and co. to fall into their trap. Jigglypuff runs ahead towards the basket of food that's on the ground. It falls into a hole. Ash sends out Bulbasaur to get Jigglypuff out of the hole. When Bulbasaur uses its Vine Whip to get Jigglypuff out, Jigglypuff runs to the next basket. Again, Jigglypuff falls into a hole, and Bulbasaur gets Jigglypuff out. Jessie is angry that Jigglypuff ruined her plan. James notices that Meowth is missing. Snubbull then squirms out of Jessie's arms and runs away. Jessie and James chase after Snubbull.

Meowth slowly walks down the road. He realizes that the Team Rocket motto will never be the same without him. Thinking that Jessie and James must've realized that already, he turns around hoping to find them, but no one is there. Meowth sighs and continues to walk. Ash and co. continue their search for Snubbull. They haven't found anything yet. Ash asks his friends if they've seen Jigglypuff's microphone anymore, and they haven't. Jigglypuff sighs and walks away.

Meowth faces the Onix Tunnel. He realizes that he can't get passed the tunnel because of the Onix inside it. It's a dead end for him. Jigglypuff walks up to Meowth. Meowth asks Jigglypuff why it's feeling sad. Jigglypuff tells Meowth that itlost its microphone. Meowth realizes Jigglypuff's sadness and says that they have to live up to their dreams. Jigglypuff's dream is to have an audience that won't fall asleep when it sings. Meowth is glad to have a friend that's nice to him. Meowth tells Jigglypuff that they will start a team of their own. It will be called the Dream Team because they won't rest until their dreams come true.

Suddenly, Snubbull comes and bites Meowth's tail. Meowth screams in pain. Jessie and James also show up. Meowth is glad that his friends were looking for him. Jigglypuff sees that Snubbull still has the microphone. Both Jigglypuff and Snubbull fight over the microphone. They begin slapping each other. Meowth tries to break up the fight, but it ends up in the middle of it. Pikachu sees this, and it runs to tell Ash. Ash and co. run over to Snubbull, Jigglypuff, and Meowth. Ash breaks up the fight and finds out that Snubbull had the microphone. Jessie and James are happy to see Misty so that they can steal her water Pokémon. Ash and co. wonder what Team Rocket is doing here. Team Rocket says their motto.

Jessie sends out Arbok. Misty is about to send out a Pokémon when Psyduck pops out of its Pokéball. Jessie and James don't want Psyduck. Misty returns Psyduck back into its Pokéball and sends out Poliwag. Arbok attacks, but Poliwag dodges the attack. Then Poliwag uses Water Gun on Arbok. James sends out Victreebel to attack Ash and co. Ash sends out Chikorita. Victreebel uses Razor Leaf, but Chikorita counters with Vine Whip. Then Poliwag uses Doubleslap on Arbok. Finally, Chikorita hits Victreebel with its Razor Leaf attack. Jessie notices that Ash and co. have been doing some training. She sends Wobbuffet in battle. Chikorita uses Vine Whip on Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet uses Counter, and the Vine Whip is sent back into Chikorita. Poliwag uses Water Gun. Wobbuffet isn't able to counter the attack, and the Water Gun hits all three of Team Rocket's Pokémon. Finally, Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, and Team Rocket blasts off again.

Snubbull drops the microphone and chases after Team Rocket. Jigglypuff is happy that it got its microphone back. It picks up the microphone and begins to sing again. Ash and co. fall asleep. This makes Jigglypuff mad, and it draws on them. Then Jigglypuff walks inside the Onix Tunnel. The same trio of Onix appear. Jigglypuff sings its song again and puts the Onix to sleep. Later that day, Ash and co. walk inside the Onix Tunnel. They notice that all the Onix are sleeping because of Jigglypuff's song. Because of the strong echos in the cave, the song was even more powerful than before. Ash and co. finally make it to the end of the tunnel, and they continue their journey towards Goldenrod City.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket walks into the tunnel. They also notice that the Onix are asleep. Jessie trips over a rock in the tunnel and falls. The Onix wake up, leaving Team Rocket scared.
