Maddie Blaustein was a New York City based voice actress for various Pokémon media, having joined the franchise with Season 1 of Pokémon the Series' English dub. Originally leaving after Season 8, when the show was recast, she returned once more in "Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Time and Darkness", before her death. Born in Long Island, NY, Maddie was most known as the second voice of Meowth and had extensive roles as extras in the early series, where she was credited under the names "Adam Blaustein", "Addie Blaustein", and "Madeline Blaustein".
Maddie not only worked in voiceover, but also as a comic book writer for Milestone Comics and other publications, and a 3D modeler for the game "Second Life". As a transgender woman, she was one of the first leading crew members in these fields to identify as such, and was seen as leading the industry not limited to creating the first transgender superheros in comics, Marisa Rahm, and inspiring new generations of transgender voice over artists in the years to come.
Maddie passed away from an untreated stomach illness at her home in Jersey City, NJ, on December 11, 2008.
