Summary
Dawn is running towards the Pokémon Center really fast. She says that she really needs a new application for her Pokétch, so that it can become more useful for her. When Dawn gets inside the Pokémon Center, she pulls out her ticket and asks Nurse Joy for the application. Nurse Joy tells Dawn that the giveaway is being held at the other Pokémon Center on the other side of the woods. Ash sighs because he ran so much for nothing. Brock falls in love with Nurse Joy, but Dawn grabs him and runs out of the Pokémon Center towards the one that has the giveaway.

Team Rocket stops Ash and co. in the middle of the road. Team Rocket tells them about a shortcut that they can take to get to the Pokémon Center. The shortcut, however, has a maze, but James pulls out a map that can get them through the maze. James gives the map to Dawn as a free gift. Then Team Rocket wants to take a picture of Ash, Dawn, Brock, and all of their Pokémon. They lead them inside a cave where Ash and co. group together along with all their Pokémon. Meowth has all the Pokémon scrunched together. At the top of the cave is Jessie and James who are holding a cage. Suddenly, a whole group of Golem begin to roll down the cave. Ash and co. run out of the way, but Meowth gets trampled.

Ash and co. have lost each other in the process. Dawn has the map, but she can't read it well, and she ends up getting lost. Ash and Pikachu takes a left in the cave, and he soon finds the exit, which brings him to the big maze. He sees Paul in the maze too, so he runs up to him. Paul is about to battle a Fearow when Ash asks Paul if he has seen Dawn and Brock. Paul replies with a no, and Ash wonders if they got trapped in the maze. He decides to look for them. Paul then looks up and notices that the Fearow has flown away. Team Rocket is disguised as rocks, and they watch Ash and Pikachu search for Dawn and Brock. Team Rocket explains that they have given Dawn a fake map, and Meowth holds the real one. While Ash is running, James, disguised as a rock, blocks the path for Pikachu. Pikachu decides to make a left, which separates Ash and Pikachu. A group of Golem and Graveler then begin to roll down the maze, but Team Rocket manages to dodge them. James thinks that the Golem and Graveler were protecting themselves from the nearby Onix. An Onix charges towards Team Rocket, and it blasts Team Rocket out of the maze.

Dawn and Croagunk manages to make their way out of the cave. She also sees Paul who is about to battle the Fearow again. She asks Paul if he has seen Ash and Brock. Paul replies with a no in a grumpy tone. Moments later, Brock walks up to Paul who asks the same question. Paul gets frustrated at Brock too and walks away. Brock is getting worried about the fact that him, Ash, and Dawn are split up. Staravia suggests that it looks for them from the air. Brock thinks it's a great idea, and Staravia leaves. Meanwhile, Pikachu has stumbled upon Buneary and Happiny. Buneary and Happiny are fighting with each other. Pikachu runs up to them and breaks up the fight.

Dawn is looking at her map. She finds it easier to walk in the maze with Croagunk at her side. Croagunk suddenly hears something. It's the group of Golem and Graveler. They roll towards Dawn and Croagunk, but they step to the side, avoiding the rock Pokémon. Suddenly, the Onix soon appears in its rampage. Croagunk quickly makes a gap in the maze wall and pushes Dawn in it before Onix can squish her. Dawn thanks Croagunk for saving her life. Pikachu and Buneary are walking along in the maze with Happiny riding on Pikachu's back. Ash isn't having much luck in the maze. He has stumbled upon many dead ends.

Ash soon comes across Piplup, Buizel, Sudowoodo, and Pachirisu. Piplup and Buizel are fighting about which way to take. Ash runs up to them to stop the fighting, but Pachirisu uses an electric attack to shock everyone. Suddenly, the Onix charges for Ash and the Pokémon. Ash decides to battle the Onix. He has Piplup use Bubblebeam and Buizel use Water Gun. The Onix takes the hit and walks away. Ash and the Pokémon cheer at their victory. Staravia returns back to Brock. It has found something, and Brock follows Staravia. Staravia leads Brock to the place where Pikachu, Happiny, and Buneary are at. Brock calls out for them, and the Pokémon answer knowing that they have been found. Dawn and Croagunk soon meets up with Brock. She wonders where Ash is at. Brock tells her that he hasn't found Ash yet. He orders Staravia to fly up in the air and check the maze out again.

Suddenly, a mechanical arms shoots out and captures Staravia. Team Rocket comes out in their balloon, and they say their motto. Staravia is placed in a cage. Then the mechanical arm charges out for Pikachu, Happiny, and Buneary, but the Pokémon dodge the attack. James is surprised that they missed, but Jessie tells him that they will circle around to grab them. Brock has a feeling that Ash is close. Dawn and Brock call out for Ash. Ash hears them and runs towards a wall and calls back out for Dawn and Brock. Ash is on one side of the wall, and Dawn and Brock are on the other side. Now they have to find a way to get through the wall. Meanwhile, Team Rocket makes their path behind Ash. Staravia calls out for Ash. Ash hears Staravia's call and demands for Staravia back. Team Rocket ignores Ash. They use their mechanical arms to blast one wall. Rocks tumble down to the ground, blocking Ash's path. Ash thinks of a plan. He has all the Pokémon attack the balloon. Unfortunately, Pachirisu shocks Ash, Piplup, Buizel, and Sudowoodo. With Ash and the Pokémon down, Team Rocket makes their escape.

Brock notices that the walls in the maze are thin. He thinks that a move can break them. Ash has heard Brock's plan, and he decides to give it a try. Brock first pounds on the wall with a rock and tells Ash to focus on that one spot. Dawn first has Buneary use Ice Beam. Then Piplup, Buizel, Sudowoodo, Croagunk, Turtwig, and Aipom attack the wall together. Happiny also manages to pick up a big boulder and throw it at the wall. Team Rocket notices that Ash and co. are trying to break through the wall. They don't think that it's going to happen. However, with a few more attacks, the wall eventually gives in. Ash and the Pokémon meet up with Dawn and Brock. This definitely surprises Team Rocket. Team Rocket begins to move down towards Ash and co., but instead they face Pikachu. Ash orders Pikachu to use Iron Tail. Pikachu breaks the cage holding Staravia. With Staravia free, Pikachu uses Thunderbolt which blasts Team Rocket off again.

Ash and co. have finally arrived at the Pokémon Center. Dawn finally has her new Coin Toss application for her Pokétch. Now Ash and co. get back on the road again. They soon approach a fork in the road. Ash suggests that Dawn uses her Coin Toss application to decide which way they go. The coin lands on tails, so they decide to take a left. Ash and co. continue their way once again towards Hearthome City.
