Ash and friends are walking down a path towards Ecruteak City for Ash's next gym battle when Pikachu and Ash smell something in the distance. Eager to find out what it is, the two of them run off ahead of Brock and Misty. They catch up just as they find a ton of trees with apples.

Pikachu runs off into the forest and as it looks around it notices that some of the apples from the trees are mysteriously disappearing with the cores falling on the ground in front of it. Ash and friends show up and see that Pikachu has a bunch of the apple cores in front of him and Pikachu tries to explain that it wasn't him that ate all of them.

Suddenly a net appears and captures Pikachu in it. It was holding an apple that had fallen out of the tree and a girl comes and says she has caught it red handed. Brock is instantly attracted to the girl and quickly begins flirting with her. He quickly apologizes for Pikachu but Ash defends Pikachu right away. Ash removes the net which makes the girl a bit mad for doing so. Ash notices that the apple that Pikachu was holding had bite marks in it still and he shows everyone that Pikachu's teeth don't line up with the bite marks in the apple.

The girl quickly apologizes and introduces herself as Charmaine. She runs the apple orchard and she invites Ash and his friends back to her house. She then takes them back into the orchard and shows them what she has been trying to do to stop whatever has been eating her apples. Brock tells her its a good idea.

A metal claw appears and bypasses the traps that Charmaine had set and grabs and apple easily. Meowth is then revealed and just as its about to eat the apple it is hit on the head by Jessie. While the Team Rocket members argue, the apple in Meowth's hands is eaten and all he is left with is the core. Jessie and James are quick to blame Meowth but they quickly turn to look at a noise coming from the nearby bushes. A Pikchu jumps into the air and rattles the noise traps which alerts Charmaine.

Pikachu and friends quickly run towards where the noise came from only to get there a bit too late. Pikachu decides to run off into the bushes regardless. Pikachu comes across 3 Pichu that thought they had gotten away but Pikachu shakes its finger at them having caught them stealing the apples. Suddenly a loud screech is heard and the Pichu and Pikachu run off to see what the problem is. The 3 Pichu lead Pikachu to a group of frightened Pichu who are being terrorized by a Fearow. Ash and friends see the Fearow and run off towards it.

When they arrive, Ash pulls out his Pokedex when he sees the group of Pichu cowering at the base of a tree. Charmaine assumes that they were the ones responsible but Misty still thinks they are cute nonetheless. The Fearow begins to attack and the three Pichu quickly jump up on a branch and shock the Fearow and in doing so it also injures the 3 Pichu. The Fearow shakes off the shock and continues its decent. Pikachu comes to the rescue though and uses its Thunderbolt to scare off the Fearow.

Ash and friends realize that all the Pichu are very hungry as they can hear their stomachs growl from the hunger. The Pichu return the stolen apples to Charmaine but she gives them to the Pichu to eat. Charmaine though is left with a dilemma of what to do with the Pichu.

Team Rocket are in their balloon when they see a flock of Pidgey head towards the forest. Ash and Pikachu notice the Pidgey coming and with the help of the Pichu they shock the Pidgey flock enough so they were turned away. That allowed Misty, Brock and Charmaine to safely and easily pick the apples. Pikachu then showed the Pichu's how to pick the apples and put them into the boxes. The Pichu then quickly began filling up the box. As thanks for helping her collect the apples, Charmaine cut up a tray of apples for the Pichu to eat.

Team Rocket then show up and perform their motto having watched what had just transpired. Wobbuffet takes Meowth's place in the motto which gets him mad. Ash tells Pikachu to stop Team Rocket but before it can it gets sucked up by the vacuum attachment to the Rocket Balloon. Pikachu's electricity is absorbed by the balloon to run various appliances in the balloon. Once Pikachu couldn't use its electric attacks anymore, Meowth presses a button and multiple new vacuum arms appear and begin sucking up the apples from the trees.

The Pichu realize what's going on and go to the tops of the tress and begin shocking the balloon and Team Rocket. Meowth turns the vacuum in reverse and blows the Pichu's to the ground. Undeterred, the Pichu climb up the trees again and make a ladder up towards Pikachu until they reach it and use shock on Pikachu to recharge him. Brock realizes that it has powered up Pikachu and Ash tells Pikachu to use Thunderbolt with the Pichu's shock in combination which proves to be too much energy for the Team Rocket balloon to store. The balloon explodes sending Team Rocket blasting off again as the apples and Pichu return to the ground.

Charmaine thanks the Pichu for their hard work and they all jump over her and hug her. As Ash and his friends leave, a new friendship between Charmaine and the Pichu had been formed.
