Jigglypuff is singing in the night and a Caterpie and Pidgey of Pokémon fall down from a tree sleeping. Jigglypuff sees this and it draws on the Pokémon's faces. A tea pot falls from the tree and it hits Jigglypuff on the head. Jigglypuff sees a big flying saucer thing come down from the sky. It sees that a big meteorite has landed. The door opens a bunch of Clefairy appear.

Ash and co. have stopped off for some ice cream. Ash has two ice cream cones in his hand and is licking them away. Suddenly, a Clefairy walks right up to them. Brock is a little surprised to see one and Misty wants to capture it. Clefairy bounces away and Misty runs to get it. Ash and Brock put their ice cream cones down and they run to catch up with Misty. Suddenly, someone or something has taken their backpacks and ice cream leaving the table empty.

Ash, Misty, and Brock head back to their ice cream. Misty, unfortunately, didn't get to catch the Clefairy. When they get back, Brock notices that everyone's backpacks and ice cream are gone. So they decide to report it to Officer Jenny. At the booth, a long line of people are complaining to Officer Jenny that their things are missing. Brock wants to know why anyone would want to steal all those things. A scientist comes up to them and says that aliens did it. Misty doesn't believe it but the scientist takes out a book filled with pictures for evidence. The baker points to a picture and says that he's seen that before. The scientist shakes him asking him questions such as where he saw it. The baker tells the scientist that he saw the object 3 nights ago. Officer Jenny states the the disappearances started occuring 3 nights ago too.

The scientist has a scanner in his hand for searching for aliens. The scientists's scanner starts to beep. A spaceship appears from the sky and lands right next to Ash. Two aliens pop out of the spaceship. They make some strange noises. The aliens take Pikachu from Ash and they fly away. Pikachu has been put in a cage. The aliens take off their masks. It was really Team Rocket in disguise. Pikachu shocks the cage but nothing happens. The spaceship is hooked onto a crane which Meowth is operating. Ash notices that the spaceship is a fake. He sends out Pidgeotto to cut the cable. Team Rocket gets up and they say their motto. Clefairy comes out and the scientist's scanner beeps. The scientist thinks that Clefairy is an alien. Jigglypuff also comes out and the scientist thinks that Jigglypuff is an alien too. The scanner also indicates that Misty is an alien. Misty get embarrassed and knocks the scanner out of the scientist's hands. It falls on the ground and breaks.

Clefairy steals Pikachu and runs away. Team Rocket goes after the Clefairy to get Pikachu back. Clefairy creates a Barrier to block Team Rocket from getting any closer. Ash and co. begin to chase Clefairy. They come to a dead end. Jigglypuff sees how Clefairy escaped. It points to a hole in the ground. Ash and Brock look in the hole. They can't even see the bottom but they all jump in anyways.

They finally reach the bottom of the pipes. When they get up, they see a gigantic spaceship. The scientist concludes that the spaceship belong to the Clefairy. Then they notice that the Clefairy were the ones who were stealing everyones stuff. The scientist thinks that the Clefairy must need Pikachu's electrical energy to launch their spaceship.

The countdown to launching the spaceship begins. Ash, Misty, and the scientist runs into the spaceship while Brock runs to tell Officer Jenny. Team Rocket is hiding behind a rock. Jessie wants to bring the boss a Pikachu plus an entire collection of Clefairy. After some searching, Ash and co. find Pikachu. But Clefairy blocks his path from getting near Pikachu. Ash pleads to the Clefairy to let Pikachu go. The Clefairy refuse and Jigglypuff comes out. It uses its Pound attack on Clefairy. Clefairy gets mad and it uses Pound attack on Jigglypuff which knocks it over. Jigglypuff gets up and it uses Doubleslap on Clefairy. The other Clefairy attack but Jigglypuff defeats them all with Doubleslap. Jigglypuff and the scientist run off while Ash and Misty tries to wake up Pikachu.

Jigglypuff and the scientist goes into the control room. A Clefairy is in there and both Clefairy and Jigglypuff stare at each other. The Clefairy quickly strikes Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff gets up and they both exchange Doubleslaps at each other. The scientist is messing around with the controls and he accidently breaks one of them. Jigglypuff snatches to the joystick from the scientist and it uses it has a microphone for singing. Everyone falls asleep. Jigglypuff finishes singing and draws on everyones faces.

Then the countdown ends and the spaceship is about to launch. Pikachu wakes up and Thundershocks the cage which powers the spaceship up. The spaceship begins to move. Team Rocket wakes up and they want to get out. Brock tries to tell Officer Jenny about the spaceship but she doesn't believe him. Suddenly, the spaceship lifts off from the ground. A lot of the items that belonged to the townspeople fell to the ground. When they are in the air, the tail to the spaceship falls off which brings Team Rocket down.

Pikachu breaks free from the cage and Ash and Misty are glad to see it. Misty sees their backpacks. She decides to take them and run. They open the door to the spaceship and notice that they are flying in the air. Misty spots a skyscraper and so Ash sends out his Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur extends its vines onto one of the poles and they are all pulled onto the skyscraper. Ash and Misty watch the spaceship go until it's not in their sight anymore.

At a nearby river, the spaceship crashes. People begin to curiously check it out. The door opens and the scientist comes out. He's covered in boxes and other material and so the people think he's an alien. They run away and the Clefairy jump out to steal everyones stuff again. So, Ash and co. continue their quest for Viridian City for Ash's last gym badge.
